Caught this one while fishing for Rainbow Trout. 24", 6.50 pounds. Caught on dough bait. The fight was FANTASTIC. The fish was released.

I bet that was quite a surprise. No doubt on light tackle too. Well done.

It is amazing how hard that size carp can fight. Congratulations.

Thanks Curt0402, F4 Gator, Barry, and Butch Sanders, for the replies. Butch: I think stocked trout would bite on just about anything if they are hungry enough. As for catching the carp, I was talking to another angler who had fished the pond a lot and he told me that you can catch carp anytime using bread. He just happened to have some and gave me a couple of slices. Since the trout bite had slowed down, I rigged one of my poles with a slightly bigger hook. Rolled a piece of bread up into a nice circle and put it on my hook. I made a cast to where I saw some carp activity and BINGO, fish on. I lost that one after a short fight. The second cast and "Fish On". Caught the one above after a very nice fight on ultralight tackle. It was a great way to end a trip.

Beautiful fish! I bet that was alot of fun on light tackle! I never pass up an opportunity to catch some carp or buffalo.
