I’ve taken my JetSki up Hickory Creek to the Alton bridge. I’m interested in taking my bass boat up Hickory Creek. When the white bass are running will they be everywhere in Hickory Creek or would they go past the Alton Bridge to extremely shallow water.? I’ve never fished for them when they’ve gone up the creeks. Where do they stop or just anywhere along the river and fish. What do I look for? Deeper pockets or very shallow?
Thank you John

I cannot comment on Hickory Creek as I've always fished creeks near the North end of the lake, but I have usually been able to find some sandies holding in pockets (2-4ft deep) in skinny water, though you may not be able to get a boat back to such places. The pockets I fish are separated by runs of really shallow water (but still deep enough for the sandies to swim up the creek). It's better if there are rocks or a sandy/muddy bottom.
With that said, I have also caught them in deeper pockets too. I'm sure you'll get some good insight from others.

I do not see bass boats up that far. I am sure some have been, but I have not seen it.
Its very shallow in spots and I have gotten bottomed out in my kayak when I have gone the wrong way. Stay to the left on the way in, when you go under that first bridge. 2499 I think it is. After that it it gets deeper but remain cautious, I suspect there is a reason I do not see big boats or glitter boats up there, mostly just yaks and tin boats.
As far as how far up or what hole, they run up to as shallow as they can and still find gravel or sand bottom. Then they run back down, so you might expect they will not be in the exact same phase of that at any given time... they will likely be in many places.

Report. Well I wanted to try it. I didn't go further than the 2499 bridge. Very shallow. Broke my trolling motor prop. So, now I can say I tried. I think i could have made it on my jet ski. It was something I wanted to do. I would not recommend in a Skeeter 190SX. I moved away from the 2499 bridge. I followed the river channel. Interesting to me. My Navionics Phone App is more accurate then my old Lowrance. But, I fished the river channel 3 to 15 feet. Didn't get a bit. Very windy. Smaller white jigs. Slabs. Overall not my best idea. Cross that one off.
Thank you, John
