About 2 weeks ago, I tried to crappie fishing with my father at Somerville in the brushy piles in the main lake, but they weren't there for sure. That might have been pre-spawn for them. Has anyone fished Lake Somerville recently? Do you guys know where we might find them in the lake? What depth would you recommend trying to find brush in? We don't have any fancy equipment like livescope, just your normal fish finder with down/side imaging. Unfortunately, we can't take our boat into the creek/shallow water, so trying to figure out the next best place. Preferably near Rocky Creek/Yegua state parks.

To @Fishbonz defense, he wasn't familiar with fishing this particular lake, but PMed me some great general information on locating crappie/fishing for them/their movement this time of year. Seems like one of the many knowledgeable individuals on here. We fished the lake and found a handful suspended in brush piles in about 10 ft of water, but had to keep moving to various brush as they weren't schooled up in massive numbers there. Water temp was in the high 50's/lower 60's, but I still feel they are in the pre-spawn stage as we just had another cold front pass by us this past week. Seems to be the pattern through this year. Once temperatures stabilize, I feel the frenzy will start in the creeks. ~ im2bz2p345
