Heading to S. Florida in April and will have time for fishing, for Peacock bass in particular. Looking for someone who has been, with suggestions regarding location and guides. Wife will be in attendance, or I could not go. Thanks in advance!

Not sure if Capt Ulyssys Rodrigues guides for peacocks, but you could ask.. tell him a friend of Fishhead referred you..LConn4. Fishhead was a good friend of both of ours before he passed away, several years ago. I met Ulyssys on the water when he was a kayak fisherman 20 years ago. Watched him become one of the best guides in the Miami area for Flamingo, Everglades and the Biscayne Bay. He could surely tell you whats what and who to contact for peacocks if he doesnt guide for them himself. Video of him guiding a guide in Biscayne Bay for bonefish. Really is a nice guy. https://anycreek.com/fishslayerchartershttps://fishslayercharters.com/

I went to Markham Park in Ft Lauderdale. I caught a bunch of 1-2 lbs fish and one that probably was a shade under 4 also a few good LM. Look for anything hanging over the water even if it is 6 inches deep. Skip a fluke up in their and work it out aggressively. I ended up putting a stinger hook on mine as I missed a lot of fish. Also if you see a drop off, a top water will call them up. I used a spook pup and a tiny torpedo. You can also fish the canals there and pretty much anywhere in Miami or the area and catch them. I rented a kayak after I got a guide trip and went to similar looking areas and did pretty good by myself. If you like kayak fishing this guy put me on them. https://tckayakfishing.com/freshwater-kayak-fishing/ Hobie peddle kayaks, he can also put you on knife fish which as so fun to catch as well. Best of luck, I want to go back real bad myself.

The year I went , numbers were down due to a freeze the year before. It was fun ( not as fun as tarpon fishing) I fished Haulover inlet for tarpon the next day. the Peacocks were spawning when was there, The method was to look for beds in the canals, then pitch a rattle trap into the nest. Enjoy and post your results good luck MO

Life journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved state. But rather skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting "holy carp what a ride!"

We went with South Fl Bass Charters. Capt Bill put us on clowns and peacocks. We fished the canals in the DelRay Beach area.
