Stayed for Bass Champs reserved end room week before #30 get there and they said it’s not clean and won’t be they don’t and won’t have anybody to clean it. Take middle room no sheets just mattress protector and 2 little face towels so I Bit_ _ and he said he’ll snag towels from other room and bring them down never seen him again. Ask for half refund he says corporate won’t let him so if you go bring a towel and a sheet.Oh yeah plug was dead to charge boat but nobody there so used next plug down.

I hate to hear this but I am not surprised. After Joe passed several years ago I was afraid they would not be able to keep the business running

If I was ready to retire I’d buy a place and put some money into it. Except for Lake Fork Marina, everyone has let their places run down pretty bad. You have to put some money back in to make it nice and make it where people want to stay.

Axtons has been that way for quite a few years now. Not a good place to stay at.

If you could hire decent people in that area things would be a bunch better. Pretty shabby labor force out there.

Yep it’s a shame I’ve always liked the set up .They had a lady in there that was really nice and would help you out but I guess they probably screwed her over to!

When Rainswood shut down many years back it hurt Axtons business. Axtons and Rainswood was the place to be back in the 90’s and early 2000.

I’d personally like to buy Oakridge. I think there’s a lot of potential there and great location. It’s just gone down hill the last few years.

Yes and Val's Landing was right there also and I practically lived there especially during the time they had the motel and restaurant. Of course back then people from all over the country and world were pumping in a ton of money and keeping everybody busy.

Couple of years ago, Oakridge redid all the hotel rooms. I have never stayed there but the owners try to run a good business.

They have struggled to found people to work the restaurant.

Fork is not the place it was 20 years ago, not as much $ from out of towners.

Is there still a bar at the cove? If so, I'm out. The last time I used that ramp my buddy's truck was burglarized while we were out on the water.

It really does. My guess is the out of town revenue to the businesses is 30% of what it was 20 yrs ago.

Oakridge was a joke when we stayed there around 2021. Rooms were a mess, half the outlets were coming out of the walls, towels / blankets / etc. needed to be burned. The staff was very nice and the restaurant was not bad.

Next time we went, we stayed at Lake Fork Marina. Way, way, way better than Oakridge. When speaking with other anglers, they said Oakridge rooms got a facelift, but they liked this marina / lodge better.

We need the traveling circus to setup camp for a year and drop the DD's on the "Gram", "Tok", and whatever other socials are being used.

25 years ago when we first started going to fork, we stayed at Axtons most of the time because we thought it was well taken care of.

Lake Fork is so overpressured; average to above average bass fishermen will struggle there 90% of the time.
Unless you live close to the lake and can fish it regularly, she will beat you most of the time. Some may enjoy crowded fishing torture, but there are too many other good options to have a fun time.

Not true at all. It’s a massive struggle to put together 50 for corporate trips. Pulling guides from other lakes and guys out of retirement

Poor Fork and all of the decisions made by anyone besides fishermen didn't help. They had a gem, the best in the world and they just kept doing dumb stuff. Killed grass off that killed the original stocked bass along with it and blamed a virus that just so happens has never done anything like it since then. There are a ton of older guys with 12 plus pounders on the wall and it is the actual fish they caught, and it just kept getting better back in the day even with people keeping large numbers of giant bass. Then the "virus" happened. It came back strong in the early 2000's with the return of grass in a lot of areas. Not what it was in the 80's-90's but man it was fun.

Then came that Pipeline

Now it better be the right day, with perfect conditions. Yes a pro can go catch them but 20 yrs ago if you could just cast well you were going to catch them.

Wonder if the locals know the days it is pulling water, has to be part of it. Few years back we had an incredible day, like old fork, followed by 6 days of suck. Now I wonder if the first day there happened to be no water flow.

It was its own economy, would meet people from all over the world. Everyone just happy to be there, not over complicating it all and every cast was another chance at the fish of lifetime.
