Had this a lot on my tin can in the Navy. Totally different from any other service and good stuff.

U.S. Navy Minced Beef On Toast
Ingredients
1 ½ pounds lean ground beef
2 onions, chopped
salt and pepper to taste
5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 (8 ounce) cans peeled and diced tomatoes with juice
1 (5.5 ounce) can tomato juice
2 cups hot water
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
½ teaspoon granulated sugar
Directions
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and onions until beef is evenly browned; do not drain. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Stir in flour 1 tablespoon at a time, until beef juices have been absorbed.
Stir in tomatoes, tomato juice, and water. Simmer on low heat to thicken.
Stir in nutmeg and sugar; simmer until flavors are blended well.

Here are some others for you:

Creamed Ham on Toast
Ingredients
1 cup chopped fully cooked ham
1/3 cup chopped green pepper
1/4 cup sliced celery
2 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1-1/2 cups milk
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon celery seed
1 hard-boiled large egg, chopped
5 slices process American cheese, quartered
3 slices toast, cut into triangles
Directions
1. In a skillet, saute the ham, green pepper and celery in butter for 4-5 minutes. Sprinkle with flour; stir until smooth and bubbly. Add the milk, pepper and celery seed; bring to a boil. Cook and stir for 2 minutes. Remove from the heat. Add egg and cheese; stir until cheese melts. Serve over toast.

SOS (Creamed Hamburger Gravy)
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
2 cubes chicken bouillon, crumbled
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
¼ teaspoon onion powder
½ cup all-purpose flour
1 ½ cups low-fat milk
Directions
Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat; stir in the ground beef, chicken bouillon, garlic powder, black pepper, and onion powder. Cook and stir until the beef is crumbly, evenly browned, and no longer pink, about 7 minutes.
Stir in the flour and cook for 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Stir in the milk and bring to a simmer, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer 5 minutes to thicken.

USMC SOS
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 ½ tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup beef broth
½ cup evaporated milk
salt and pepper to taste
Directions
Brown the ground beef in a medium skillet over medium-high heat, until meat is no longer pink. Drain excess fat and set aside.
Melt the butter or margarine in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Slowly add the flour, stirring constantly, to form a brown roux.
Pour in beef broth and milk, mixing well. Add ground beef, then season with salt and pepper to taste.

CREAMED CHIPPED BEEF ON TOAST IS A FORGOTTEN CLASSIC
Ingredients
1 jar of dried beef slices rinsed well & chopped
4 tbsp butter
4 tbsp flour
Pinch of cayenne
2 cups milk
Sea salt and freshly cracked pepper to taste
Bread toasted
How To Make Creamed Chipped Beef on Toast
Rinse the slices of dried beef really well – they are VERY salty! Once you have rinsed well, pat dry with a paper towel.
Chop the beef into small bite-sized pieces. Set aside.
Heat the butter in the large saucepan over medium heat.
Add the flour and pinch of cayenne pepper to the melted butter and whisk until well combined and cooked through, about 45 seconds.
Very slowly add the milk while whisking continually.
Once the milk has all been added, add the chopped dried beef.
Cook, stirring occasionally, for a few minutes until thickened.
Taste and season with sea salt and freshly cracked pepper, to taste, if needed.
Serve on top of dry toast immediately. Enjoy.

Hamburger Creamed Gravy
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1/2 cup onion chopped
1 clove minced garlic
1/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
2 cups milk I use one 12 ounce can of evaporated milk and enough water to make 2 cups
Instructions
Brown ground beef, onion and garlic until beef is cooked. Drain. Put hamburger back in skillet and add flour, salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce and milk. Simmer until gravy thickens. Makes 6 to 8 servings.

Army SOS Creamed Ground Beef
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
¼ cup all-purpose flour
1 cube beef bouillon
¾ teaspoon salt
1 pinch ground black pepper
2 ¼ cups milk
¼ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Directions
Brown beef in a large skillet over medium high heat. Stir in flour, bouillon, salt and pepper. Saute all together for about 5 minutes or until flour is absorbed. Gradually stir in milk and Worcestershire sauce. Bring all to a simmer, stirring constantly. Cook until thickened, about 5 to 10 minutes. Serve hot!

SOS is a favorite of mine. I simplify by using pioneer pepper gravy mix. I boil the beef with some bullion and then add the prepared gravy mix and simmer a bit. Eat it over toast, biscuit or potatos . I never had it with the tomatos. The recipes you gave look great.

I was with the marines off and on as a navy corpsman. I dont recall having their version. Never had the army one. The navy version I had the most was chipped beef on toast.

I never saw chipped beef on toast on my tin can. You must have been living the high life. Except for having to be around all those damn jarheads all the time. Did you keep crayons with you as treats.

Third Med in Okinawa 85-86. was also on the USS Okinawa 87-90 which was usually full of them. Bluesman never ate them out of a can, we had MREs and it was not a choice.

Yeah it was nice to have prepared food for every meal. Fresh bread, fresh rolls, etc. Gotta say, Navy got the best food.

Thinks for sharing these. I love SOS over toast w/eggs. I keep it simple; grd meat mixed with pan sausage (venison), flower, milk & water. I need try these others for dinner.

I remember eating this sometimes for lunch with my granddad. He was a Member of the 82nd Airborne and fought in WWII and Korea.

midrats were the best when we had this, CREAMED CHIPPED BEEF ON TOAST.

some scrambled eggs (only if they were real eggs), fruit and coffee made a good meal.

we did eat pretty good in the Navy.

we never got the ground beef version, at least we knew what the chipped beef looked like.
