After catching just 5 fish dead-sticking 6 hours in another lake yesterday, I went out on CC today structure fishing and caught 50 mostly big whites, 3 legal hybrids to 24 inches, 4 short hybrids, 2 yellow bass, and 2 cats in 3 1/2 hours. Fish were in 18 to 23 fow. Caught about half straight down and half casting and working #4 Mepps back to the boat. Caught them on Long Ridge, Long Ridge West, and 3 Jug Hump.

12/22/2023 Friend Graham and I had another great day on CC. 137 caught: 20 legal hybrids, 9 shorts, 2 cats, and 106 white bass. Fish were under the birds south of Crappie Island from about 10:30 am to noon. We then went to 3 Jug Hump and Iron Wall Hump and caught the rest. Best lures were Mepps #4, Panther Martin, and Little George.

Wow! CC is such a great fishery. I have had the same luck as you have with the deadsticking...some days I spend hours for a few small fish. If only CC was closer...

12/26/2023: Pretty day and just had to get out and fish. Spent almost the whole time at 3-Jug Hump and caught 50 whites, 2 legal and 1 short hybrids, a cat, a 15 inch crappie, and 3 nice yellow bass. Caught them casting and reeling in along the bottom in 20 fow and fishing straight down in 20 to 24 fow. Caught fish on large BoBlade, Panther Martin, and #4 silver Mepps.

No, it is not unusual to catch a 15 inch crappie here, so I didn't take a picture.

1/3/2024: I fished under or close to gulls from 9 am til noon using a green BoBlade with yellow tail spinner and caught 19 hybrids (15 legal) and 17 white bass. All fish caught casting and retrieving from the bottom in 17 to 25 fow - working the lure like a Mepps 4. They were all over Crappie Island Flats.
