Been coming down to Fork from Missouri for years now. One year i was given a couple of slab spoons from a local that I have loved fishing in several different lakes. However i can't find them anywhere. Is there a local tackle shop where i can pick some up?

Do a Google search for Roy Greer Bass Clinic. You can find his contact information on his webpage. I’m not sure if he still makes them or not. I’ve caught a gazillion fish on his spoons.

You can cast it out , let it sink to the bottom, take out slack and then lift rod tip.

It is also very effective when fish are on the bottom by vertical jigging it about 6” off the bottom. When fishing it vertically, sometimes they want it dead still or moving slowly horizontally, or sometimes jiggling it up and down just off the bottom with 3” to 6” lifts of your rod tip. When jigging it vertically they almost always hit on its free fall. That’s what works for me.

Slab fishing is one of my favorite! It's a technique that you have to practice at. If you lose contact (feeling the weight) with the slab, you better set the hook! Other times as you lift the slab, surprise fish on! Love that bite! I've caught a few crappie doing this.

You ain’t gonna catch any sittin’ on the couch.
