For those of you that havent ridden in a Nautic Star, here's what I've learned about the NS 1900...since a friend in Lake Charles, LA bought one last year.
1. Dont let them put a 90 HP Opti on it...it's simply not enough power. Get at LEAST a 115. ( or more) Any dealer that tells you a 90 will push it is an idiot. Jerry's marine in Sulphur, LA should have treated his customer better in this case. It takes waaay too long to get up on plane with a 90 and we've tried every prop known to man. ( this was done with 3 people and gear in the boat)
2. It rides fairly dry. I compare it to a Kenner or Mako in the "dry ride" dept. That's pretty important to me.
3. His came with a Roadrunner trailer and that's a good thing !
4. It takes to big water better than many other bay boats of it's size. I was impressed.
5. It needs more storage to suit me...but it's adequate for a lot of people.
6. Being a fan of Kenner for many years, the Nautic Star is the first boat in that price range that I have ever considered besides a Kenner/Mako.
So far, no problems with my friend's rig, except the HP issue. But he's a millionaire and will probably trade it in a year or so.
