I am curious if anyone has had the same problem as I am having with a "popular" boat sales website? I won't say the name of the company and do not want any TFF Members to mention any names in a reply to this post but I will give you a clue as everyone should know this is a REAL problem. The businesses name has 2 words, the first word starts with a B and the second word starts with a T. There is also a business/website which sells autos with a similar name...use your imagination my friends but again please don't mention any business names in full in the replies.
Since paying $150 to list my boat for sale on this website I have had 3 DIFFERENT cell numbers send me the EXACT same text message word for word and then never reply to my response. These text messages were sent within days of listing my bass boat for sale on the webpage mentioned above. Feel free to message me and I will tell you the name of the business.
I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue when listing a bass boat for sale on ANY website? This is disgraceful and every bass fisherman who owns a boat should be aware that this is a real problem that exists with this website. I personally love Bass Boat Central, they seem like a great company for selling bass boats. I am sure there are many many more great websites to sell boats on, but beware when paying to post online. Please share any webpages that are great for listing a boat online. Cheers!

Dont understand the desire to be conspicuously cryptic but B*** T***** is probably no better or worse than C*********. Personally, I avoid A*** T***** and B*** T***** like the plague as a seller, but will source them if Im in the market as a buyer. Also expect lifetime spam from B**** F*** N****** resulting from listing with the former. T** and B*** B*** C****** are great for regional (Texas) and national exposure. For most of us its not our first rodeo and understand and accept the numerous aggravations (the laundry list is long) associated with selling/buying a boat. Good luck on you sale...

You put your cell number on a website and are surprised to get junk calls/texts? If its really from boat trader that seems a little sketchy but as a buyer I am still actively searching boat trader as well as here, Craigslist and Facebook. I did not simply put my phone number on just any website. I PAID to put my phone number on a well known and supposedly professional business website trusting they have nothing but good intentions for their paying clients. I have been involved in the professional fishing industry for 15+ years as have many other members here on TFF also have. During that time period I personally have NEVER heard of this happening to any other angler who paid money to list a boat online for sale, so this is why I am very surprised over these unprofessional "business tactics". I very much appreciate the Craigslist and Facebook suggestion! I will give that a shot as well.

I listed a truck on C***** L**** early this year and I received several fake responses. I did not put my phone number on there, I had my email hidden so they would communicate by email first until I knew it was real interest.

Why would anyone pay $150 when you can post it here or other similar sites for free? I see bass boats posted all over Facebook marketplace too.

Let's try to keep the comments positive, the purpose of this thread is to make others aware of a real problem with a so called professional company. Please try to save the negative ones for in person. I am at Lake Fork Marina often.

Good luck on you sale... ^^^^^ Because there are people that buy boats like these two, and I also that search many different avenues. Youve been in the industry 15 years and just now joined TFF to complain about boat trader? ^^^^ I am pretty sure Stephen was a member here years back when he first got into guiding and tournament fishing, before he went into the military and got injured which has cost him the ability to continue his fishing career. He probably just forgot his login info from years back. So I'm sure he didn't just join to complain. He's a fine young man, just giving a heads up to others on something that's happening to him for the 1st time.

Watch Out , maybe a scam in the making. Stephen, this is what you really have to watch on any online marketplace now. Be very careful, lots of scams coming from 3rd parties, even on legit sites!

Comes with the online territory, unfortunately. It is really a pain and pretty much unavoidable even on legit sites.

Not much of a scam if thats what you are talking about. Thats all I can get from what you are saying.
The scam is spam. In all fairness to B*** T******, etc. they are probably not a willing participant. More often than not, unattended scraper applications distill contact information from the listing companys web sites, identify the results as a phone number and/or e-mail, then ping (validate) it. No actual contact with you is required but some scraper logic will attempt to determine if the phone number is actually answered by either voice mail or a person (worth more). Once they validate the contact info by lack of technical rejection, it is bundled along with others for sale to spammers. Envision this process occurring 24x7...

Pretty sure Stephen is talking about them. I just had my Phoenix listed on there a few months back. After I signed up, tons of spam emails and phone calls. Pretty sure they sell off or share your information.

This is a good site, as well as BBC. The other site u mentioned will get u alot of scammers. Pretty easy to figure out, but they are getting better. Not saying BBC and TFF don't get me a few of these guys. Cashier's checks are usually a flag, and buying without viewing. Had a few that would ask me to send alot of pictures, and then have a reason they have to swoop in pick it up and give me a cashier's check.
