I’m usually not home enough to enjoy tv. But mrs.byrd insists that we need it for some reason. Pros cons history with these providers or others would be greatly appreciated. Only want one of the basic packages .

Direct tv is what I have. I started with it years ago. Wife wanted to save a few bucks and we went to dish. It was horrible. So we then went to Uverse. It was worse. Back to direct now and could not be happier.

I do miss my old c-band 10ft dish. Looked cool in my back yard. cheers

Had DirecTV at the house for my wife who had the TV on all day every day.

I turned off the TV the day after my wife passed away and sold it very cheaply to her sister for her husband's boat house man cave. BTW - he absolutely LOVES that TV - I'm happy for him.

I cancelled DirecTV about three days later. I do not miss not paying DirecTV ~$100 per month. Not one bit.

I have not watched TV at my apartment or in my (many) hotel rooms since the middle of April.
If I'm at a bar or restaurant I'll watch . . . . but I'm really not interested.
Wait - recently I was on Alaska Airways seated in First Class and I watched the first episode of "Cheers" on their entertainment channel. I forgot what it was like to laugh out loud.

We have had both Dish and Direct TV. They are not competive in pricing. Where they get you is making you sign up for packages that have a lot of shows you don't watch just to get the shows you do watch. With all the other booming streaming or antenee technology choices available, Hopefully both Dish and DirectTv need to get competive and respond to their subscribers needs and let us choose and pay for just the channels we want without paying for their bloated packages.
Sorry for my rant, but stepping off my soap box, We have had Dish for several years now and if you are trying to decide between Dish and DirectTv, the biggest and best difference between the 2 is their DVR service. Their Dish's Hopper 3 is light years ahead of DirecTv. Their website gives all it's features. For us, it has been the only thing that has kept us as customers.

I have Direct TV for one reason. The Sunday Ticket. I may dump it in June when my contract is up.

Rick I have been with direct for 19 years and get Sunday ticket for free every year for the last 7-8 years. If you have been with them ten years or longer call customer service and ask for the loyalty dept. they will take care of you. Regular customer service does not have the authority to do it.

I dumped DirecTV back in January. Went to a ROKU Premium and DirecTV Now. Saves money and same stuff. Hulu and Amazon Prime too. Everything is there.

Get a good internet feed and stream.

Have had both DirecTv and Dish in the past. The biggest difference between the 2 was that DirecTv sales staff called every month trying to sell premium packages, even after repeatedly telling them to stop calling. DirecTv also had a habit of changing the programing in their packages, dropping channels that I would watch and then tell me I could get them back if I subscribed to additional packages. I finally switched to Dish. They screwed up the mailer offer that stated I would get 12 months of HBO for free. After 3 months it went away, but a quick call and some arm wrestling they turned it back on for another 6 months. At the end of that 6 months, they turned it back on for another 6 months. Living in the country limits choices, the wireless internet I have isn't good enough for stream type TV, so it's either satellite or nothing for anything above what an antenna could pull in.

May you be treated the way you treat other people, today and everyday!

Went with dish the flex package . Think it was about 77 bucks . Can’t stream internet blows where I’m at .
Direct seemed cheaper for similar package but cheaper isn’t always better so I went with dish.

I was with DirecTV for 18 years ... had an issue they said they couldn't overcome so I went with Dish. I don't have an antennae option nor streaming option. Just too far out in BFE.

I cut the cable and got a Roku, added Sling and antenna. There is way more to watch then I have time to waste on TV. I've had both Dish and Direct TV never satisfied with either particularly in bad weather. Sling has a Cloud DVR so I can record shows to watch when the weather is bad.

Whichever option does not include anything related to AT&T... they are the devil.
