Hey Guys,

My step-dad and Mom just moved to Granbury and he wants to go looking for Striper and Sand bass this Saturday. Are they down by the dam or are they even biting right now? Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Not sure if you have noticed, but it has been raining ALOT for the past week. Everything on the Brazos river from Possum Kingdom to Lake Whitney has been flooding. Possum Kingdom is releasing a major about of water that would totally flood the Town of Granbury if the gates on the lake were not open. Granbury Lake has been getting flushed for several days with all the mud and trash in the Brazos River from PK to Granbury passing thru the lake. I'm not an expert but fishing on Granbury this weekend might be a little tough.

Well, I dont think loco was being a smart azz. Just going by your post, one could assume you could be away from the Granbury area and unaware of the severity of the situation, and he explained it. Good luck with you fishing, and congrats on your first few posts. roflmao

Not sure "loco" was being a smart [censored]. Also not the best way to get info when you start off like that.

The lake has been going up and down daily from full pool to 2.06ft low...as of right now we are 1.65ft low at the dam and 1.25ft low at north (river) end.

The stripers and other fish have been sent through the gates this week. Once the lake is back to normal and clears up a bit you will have better luck.

You can be assured your questions will carry zero interest from most of us that would normally respond positively.

Yes its going to be awhile before granbury is fishable IMO, its chocolate milk all the way to the dam. As of Saturday the water was flowing around the channel markers.

BRA put out on Facebook on Sunday evening that they had passed 410,000 surface acres of water through Granbury in the past 12 days. That is enough water to completely drain and refill the lake 3 times.

Whitney is going to fish really well for awhile. The fish that I still have hanging around my dock are very pale colored.

Yes sir, across from the power plant. As strange as this sounds, it looks like the inflow of water now is hitting the dam and bouncing back the other direction. All of the debris is moving back up the lake. I have been watching floaters all day going the wrong direction.
