Fished a small tournament last weekend and the fishing was on and off a lot during the day. The entire day was a grind and I was running everywhere. After catching several dinks my first thought was that I needed to put more fish in the boat. Then I realized what I needed was a giant. So, I decided to just swing for the fence and fired up the big motor and made that run up the lake for about a mile and a half. I knew it was risky to make that kind of run but all I was catching were dinks and I needed a game changer for sure. I continued to grind out the dinks and then I felt a big thump on the worm and knew right then it was a ggggggg-giant. I started cranking and hollered at my partner to get the net it was a good-un. Got it in and my scale weighed it at 2.5 pounds. I knew then I had the game changer that I needed. My partner immediately asked me what I caught it on and I told him that I was using a worm and that he should tie one on and it would help him catch more fish. It started getting late so I decided to fire up the big motor and start that long trip back to the weigh in. Got back and everyone was watching me get the fish out of the live well and then started crowding around when I pulled out the big one. Everyone was asking the same old questions like where did you catch him, what were you throwing and two guys told me they were getting bites all day but couldnt get them in the boat. One guy said he had a giant and lost it right at the boat. I just smiled and told them that a bad day of fishing was better than a good day at work and they agreed and starting feeling better. So, after all 7 entrys had weighed in I thought dang this is a small tournament, we really need to grow the sport.
So after a hard day I went to load the boat and looked at my fish finder and it was a blank screen. The old Lowrance looked like it bit the dust and now I will need to get a new one.
So, my question is, should I stay with Lowrance or go with Hummingbird? What are the pros and cons of each? Cant afford that new Garmin so thats out.
Thanks

I like Lowrance because it has more memory for WayPoints and trails.

A humminbird would be a game changer for sure! Put more fish in the boat and leave the dinks for everyone else! Your sponsors will be so proud!
