I've never smoked the stuff in my life, but I'm in large part a libertarian so I applaud the move. At an absolute minimum it'll be an interesting experiment. I guess if Canada doesn't descend into anarchy in the next couple of years it'll be a strong data point that maybe a little reefer isn't such a bad thing.

If everyone lit one up at the exact same time. There would be peace for at least 30 minutes. roflmao

Well the 9 states that have legal recreational weed and the 31 with legal medical marijuana have all seemed to continue functioning.

Its a big nothing. Alcohol is 100x worse they should legalize it federally.

The only reason it was ever made illegal was to target Mexicans as they tended to smoke it quite a good deal.

Don't know about the Mexican thingy but ETOH is a helluva lot worse.

I always figured it was made illegal so certain people could make lots of cash! If you were not in that certain group and still attempting to make bank off it then you were targeted by law enforcement.

The Kennedy family became uber rich during Prohibition with old Joe being a world class bootlegger.

On the flip side I'm married to an ex-Canuck and do make regular trips up there.

Oh yes. No one thought much about weed untill Mexicans and then African Americans started taking a shine to it.

Then it had to be a schdule 1 drug.

Read more about it here https://www.businessinsider.com/racist-origins-marijuana-prohibition-legalization-2018-2

Lots of articles and research support that looking back the criminalization of weed was largely driven by race.

I think the general consensus among the scientific community is that it's far safer than alcohol. The biggest complaint I hear from people against it is that it'll turn society into a bunch of lazy slobs. I've never done the stuff so I have no clue how true that is. I do see a lot of highly successful athletes and business types that do it though and don't seem drained of motivation.

Mexico passed prohibition of marijuana in 1925 to drive all the Africans and Mexicans out Mexico.

It will be legal here sooner rather than later. No worse than alcohol.

All of the drivers that drive on the wrong side of the road, all of the drivers who kill in road accidents and all the ones who try to beat a train across the tracks have never been arrested for smoking weed as far as I know. Given the choice of driving next to a drunk or a high person I'll take the weed smoker. Having only smoked it once when I was a lot younger does not make me an expert, I only base my opinions as an observer when comes to comparing the two. I don't drink alcohol either but it's obviously the more dangerous of the two at affecting peoples driving and bad judgment. I think if it came to a vote to making it legal I would vote for it but would need to be better informed first.

I am a Senager. (Senior teenager) I have everything that I wanted as a teenager, only 50 years later. I get an allowance every month. I have PU truck and a bass boat, I am blessed.

Been a long time but I was once an expert. I hear the stuff around now days is exponentially more potent.
