I don't. Top 4 teams should play. The playoffs is to decide who is number 1 only. In the past, before the playoffs they did not guarantee 1 would play 2. There was never a true match up over who was the best.
Now they should have the 4 best teams line up and play themselves. Two games then the winners play to decide who survives and wins the best of the best.

In your scenario right now one of the top 8 teams in the rankings would not be able to play for the national championship so by your rules you are not allowing one of the top 8 to have a chance.

Alabama and LSU still have to play, so that will take care of itself. Plus, LSU already beat Georgia. There are still five weeks left in the season, plus conference championship games. Plenty of football to be played.

That seems obvious to me. The �four best teams� argument is weak, and a throwback to the BCS as well as a perfect example of why clear criteria needs to be outlined and the human element removed as much as possible.

Plus, the four best teams will still be included in an 8 team playoff. It also allows perhaps a second team fro, say, the SEC, that lost in the conference championship but otherwise was undefeated to still make the playoff instead of playing a meaningless bowl game. It�s actually more inclusive than the four team playoff.
