Yes the vinyl will scratch and pretty easily too. 2 forms of it, glue down or floating. Most of the floating requires some form of waterproof (plastic) underlayment when installing over concrete due to moisture being trapped, causing mold growth. Another thing about it, yeah its waterproof; but if you flood it then you have to pull it to dry it out. Still better than regular laminate, but it has its drawbacks.
Engineered scratches too and cant get it wet.
Bamboo just out right sucks; period! I
Tiles the most durable, yeah its hard & cold and can crack.
Theres a drawback to all of them. Why don't you like bamboo, just curious. Not sure why it does it, but in Texas its real bad about cupping. None of the floor stores I install for will even install (or sale) it anymore. The box stores sell it because they dont care.

My buddy has a house in Rockport with Bamboo flooring upstairs. It's a sharp looking floor and has been pretty durable as far as I can tell. Humidity and Harvey and spilt drinks, it's held up great. Probably was before they cheapened the product.

Jman, when you say real wood, are you referring to the Engineered wood or full thickness pure wood like oak? Yes theres varieties of oak, pine, and other hardwoods. Theres various types of handscrapes or you can go smooth. And various colors of stain. Go check out Old Texas Wood off of US175 in South Dallas that does a lot of reclaimed wood. Thats who Ive used in the past. I was sold on hardwood floors a long time ago when I walked into Kellys in Kansas City, the oldest bar in the oldest building in Kansas City. Still have the original hardwood floors.

Probably was before they cheapened the product. One of the houses I worked in had approx 2800ft of it installed by the store I was subd through. Guys used a special glue and less than a month later every piece of it cupped, owner was in a wheel chair and although I dont want to sound like an ahole...when he rolled across it, it was like dukdukdukdukduk (best I can describe) it was humorous to us. Not so much for Mohawk flooring because they had to pay for the people to move out, pay for tearout & re-installation. That was an expensive write off for them! Maybe the newer stuff is better, but I know when it first came out there was nothing but hell with it.

Still have the original hardwood floors. We have an engineered walnut handscraped floor in a dark gunstock color throughout half our home. It has held up well and if it gets scratched, you get a colored marker and go over the scartch and it's gone. The handscraped look hides lots of problems. I would definitely use it again if we ever build a home.

Tile that looks like wood. Saw that. Porcelain tile. Looks pretty durable for sure. There is a grout line with it I believe. very small with the 6x24 or 6x36 planks. These are rectified, or cut to tight specs to allow for a very thin joint. I work for largest flooring company and have some of their engineered oak in living room, dining, haul, and one bedroom. I really like it but scratches can be a problem especially with this wild GWP that I have. If you are worried about scratches and want something durable definitely look at the porcelain planks.

Not only special glue but if you nail it down it takes a special one and I can tell you the timberstrand version will not staple down or nail down it is so hard it will not let a nail through it. Its so hard its brittle. I will not install bamboo flooring anymore. Theres always a problem with it. If you have high humidity just get engineered if your worried about scratches get tile wood if your worried it will be cold install ditra heat under it enjoy your floor in the winter and summer.

Grout scout. It is different now. The bamboo has urethane on front and back now to help keep moisture out.

Real wood is the only one you can sand down restain and not replace if something happens. Wood look tile has become popular because of all the new varieties on the market and the trend towards less rustic and more modern. If you go the tile route use one that has a 90 degree edge and not a rounded edge. The 90 degree edge will allow for a smaller grout line. I think real wood is the way to go.
