Crabs are easy to catch. Chicken necks, string and crab nets. Can catch 3 dozen in a couple of hours in Sabine pass.

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

Ive never heard of crabs being referred to as a poor mans lobster and I grew up in an area that had an abundance of seafood including all manner of shellfish

All depends on where you are. FL has tons of them, but they're not too popular. MD/VA is a different story

Any seafood we ate was never bought (not counting frozen, breaded fish sticks). We caught it or went without. My first crayfish boil was after I was out of the Navy. Never caught enough to make a meal.

The beef we ate was always ground beef, never a steak. Pot roast was a fancy meal. Port chops were every now and then. Ate enough chicken that I should be able to fly.
