1 - van has a toll tag
no issues

2 - truck has a toll tag
still getting paper bills
I paid it and have the payment receipt
$1.23 toll is now $11.23 bill

3 - daughters old car was sold
title transfer paperwork filed with DMV
I am still getting toll tag bills - third time
NTTA shows me to be the current owner
DMV does not list me as the current owner
will dispute for the 3rd time
$13.42 toll is now $33.42 bill

4 - old truck was sold
title transfer paperwork filed with DMV
I am still getting toll tag bills
NTTA shows me to be the current owner
DMV does not list me as the current owner
I paid the previous balance of $42.92 months ago and have a payment receipt
Will dispute

Dealing with them by phone or email is a joke. Pisses me off.

I hope the NTTA billing department is forced to shovel horse carp for 20 years.

Wife will do all disputes over the phone. I stop by the office on 161 in Irving and have pretty good luck with them. Still a pain.

Every now and again I get a stupid $1.25 toll or something from them even though I have a tag. I just ignore it. It goes away.

I often tow my toll tag less boat thru the scanners. So far after many years I have only received one paper bill on it. I feel like I am a winner for scamming the man.

Ps. Ntta says I need a toll tag for the boat.

I'm pretty sure you can go out on their website and cancel the toll tags you are not using. I'm pretty sure that is what I did when I gave an old car to my ex son-in-law (he was not an ex when I gave him the car).

I would imagine he is getting billed based on the picture of the license plate of the vehicle, which is a major drawback of that photo pay process for sure

The toll tags were canceled for the vehicles I sold.

But I did not do is remove the license plates. I will never make that mistake again.

Which is a good reason to remove your plates when you get rid of a car.

I've asked NTTA people in person at 3 different offices what I'm supposed to do when towing and I've received 3 different answers.

Their system is set up so your vehicle is either never towing anything, or it's always towing the same trailer. There are no other viable options.

I had two ladies at the main office tell me the "scale in the road" would weigh my truck as I went through and would know that I was towing and would charge the appropriate amount. I said my truck hauling bags of concrete but no trailer would weigh more than an empty bed towing an empty trailer. They insisted it would still weigh the rig and know because there's no way a truck by itself could possibly weigh more than a truck with a trailer.

I gave up trying to figure it out. No one there knows the right answer, so they just make something up.

The toll booth doesnt weigh a vehicle. It scans the number of axles that pass by on each vehicle. Thats how they bill you is by the number of axles.

Yes always remove plates. To show how persitant they are, I got a paper bill from a plate that I had that the numbers had been retired so long they were reuissued. It was when this has truck specific plates and it was on a different truck in the photo. They did however clear that up quickly.

In an ideal world this may be the plan. The one time I got billled that actually sent a picture of the boat/trailer.

Been there done that. If you go to DMV they game me a paper that showed me as previous owner on the left side of the page. The new owner on the right side of the paper. Sent this to them and was cleared of all chargers.

the burden of proof should be on them. I bet Kavanaugh has your back, fight it for about 10 years and let's get this racket stopped.

I would check ntta.org and look at your profile and see if the old plate #s are still on your profile. I have sold a couple of cars and never had a issue and I also get online and make sure my account is accurate.
