Alan Henry up 1.5’
Sweetwater up 11.5’
Oak Creek 1.5’ over pool and full for the first time since 2007. Three months ago was at 43% full.
Champion up 5’
Spence only about 5” but creeks running fast and water on the way

Sadly Ivie seems to be missing out on the fun.

Champion has been a blast to fish this year and is up about 8-9' since the last time I fished it back in April. Sweetwater definitely caught the most and I hope they decide to restock it. Oak Creek is my home lake and I can't wait for the lake to settle and explore things I haven't seen in a decade

The only bad thing is having to launch off of the bank and gravel. A two person job unless you like getting wet and muddy.

Taking 5 to the weigh-in occurs when opportunity meets successful execution of one's preparation.

I never had any issues by myself, but my boat is only 17' long. I think the water is up on the main ramp now, but I don't think it's enough to be useable yet

Wait until next week when the remnants of hurricane Sergio come across West Texas. THAT'S the setup for full West Texas lakes. Oh yeah. Twin Buttes up 11'.

If Buttes gains 11' it will still be 24' below full pool.

THANK the wonderful LORD for the rain we got. EVERY PRECIOUS DROP IS APPRECIATED in West Texas. At our ranch, we got 2.23", biggest was a 1.4" rain the other morning. The river is outside of it's banks and rolling along FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe some more this weekend.

Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

I don't think it gets 'missed'. The watershed is just too small for that part of Texas. Basically from San Angelo to Ivie and from Spence to Ivie plus the creek that flows through Ballinger. Not very big for an area that usually gets less than 20" or rain per year.

Ivie honestly is about the correct level with that size of watershed. Has to get almost perfect to fill it up

They're forecasting pretty good rains in West Texas for this weekend. And snow in parts of the panhandle Monday.

With the grounds currently saturated, if we get whats predicted in the Concho Valley it should put a pretty good dent in the water shortage. The last round of rain a few days ago didnt do much for Twin Buttes but OC Fisher is up over 4' in the last 24 hours and Spence almost 2 more feet.

That would be awesome for you guys out there. I lived in San Angelo from '84 to '89 when the lakes, including OC and Spence, had a lot of water. It was a fisherman's paradise.

We are catching a little bit of water, elm creek and the Colorado is flowing at 1500 right now, maybe it will rain again soon and flood it. It's primed and ready right now to catch some water.

It filled up right after it was built in the early 90’s.

I would have to back my truck out 20' in the water to float the boat off the trailer at the temp ramp. That Ramp has a weird angle at the top from what I could see. The middle ramp looked usable, guessing they switch over to that one. The old ramp still needs several feet.

There is some widowmaker logs floating around out there on the river end of Spence. Saw several guys running orange water on plane through the river and brush lines, some lucky person is going to catch one.

Don’t believe these guys, it’s always sucked! Rayburn is where it’s at, East Texas is the place to go.

Ivie is up 1'8" since Thursday, per Jerry. Noticeable difference from yesterday evening to this evening. Rock pile in front of my house is barely visible and I'd bet it's gone tomorrow. Very slow rise but it's better than nothing. Praise God for what we have got and hope we get some more..... It has been a light rain all night and 100% next two days and 80-90% the rest of the week.

I was on Ivie Sunday for a few hours. I think it rose a half a foot in that time. Walk way to dock was out of water when I launched and under when I returned.

Heck, the Kickapoo creek at hwy 87 is actually flowing (about 25' across) .... first time I've ever seen it flow; actually it's the first time I've seen it wider than a few feet.

Oops, did I say DINK?

Twin Buttes gained a foot in the last 2 hours. If it keeps raining like its supposed to all week we may see water levels in that lake like we haven't seen in the last 10 years.

I did some conservative Math this morning, and at 4500cfs flowing from the Concho and Colorado the way it was this morning it would take around 21 days to fill up, with these flows, it may take a week or less!

That would be nice but I seriously doubt that will happen, it's flowing at 11,930 now. I'd be happy with 10-15 ft rise and I think that's realistic.

There is water between Robert Lee and San Angelo in places most people have never seen. It is still flooded up around oak creek, San Angelo is flowing good. There is a lot of water headed to Ivie. 30-35% would not shock me at all.

% = percent, so 30-35% would mean 30 percent to 35 percent. That's about 80,000 acre feet

14,500 ft3 = 108,460 gallons per second or 2,571 barrels ( oil field barrel)or 21 tank trucks per second which is sounding good. fish

Jerry and I talked and think 15-20 is very realistic, and could be more if the weather forecast for he weekend and next week hold true.

I was thinking 4 or 5 feet at best but the way all the water is flowing and the amount of rain predicted for the next few days 15-20 isn’t out of the question.

16,220 right now and still climbing. This reminds me of the 16ft in caught in '12, most of it came from the Colorado and very little from the Concho. Now we have the Concho flowing over 7,000 so there is no telling what can happen. Just hope it keeps flowing like this.

Twin Buttes in Angelo may be the biggest winner in this deal. It's flowing 20k with all its rivers flowing in.

It’s up 4’ In the last 48 hours. Just drove to the EQ channel a few hours ago and it’s flowing pretty good. Also it’s up enough that the main ramp is usable again. No more dirt trail to launch

Rain eased up by me. Seems like Twin Buttes is the big winner so far. Captured 6 more feet in the last 12 hours.

No rain right now, the rivers are still flowing 25,500. The lake has come up 4.3 since Tuesday. I hope we get 10' out of this. We have caught 8.6 since Sept 2 and 5.5 since Monday.

Awesome to hear, Jerry!! I know the Kickapoo was still 40-50' wide and flowing like a real river when I drove over it this morning.

Got tired of watching the weather so I took my boat out on Twin Buttes this afternoon to explore a little bit. It hasn’t had this much water in close to a decade. Gonna be like fishing a whole new lake for a while that’s for sure. A couple of more feet and the island off sailboat point will be submerged.

Oak Creek is still over the spillway by 2'
Doesn't that eventually make it to Ivie as well?

Yes, oak creek flows to the Colorado between Bronte and Ballinger. It took about a week for the first bit of water to make it to Ivie when Oak Creek went over the spillway a couple weeks ago.

I bet Ivie ends up being 25 ft low compared to the 43 she was before all of this and if we get more rain next week it's could be even better!

Never understood the whole pray for rain thing. I’m sure the folks down south around Austin are praying for no rain. So what is it?

It depends on if it rains next week. If it doesn`t rain I think we still catch 3 to 4 feet.

Anyone out there that thinks they have Twin Buttes figured out is in for a surprise on their next visit. Your honey holes are now 35’ deeper then they were a month ago. Been on it for the last 3 days. Challenging is an understatement.

Still Some water between Robert Lee and San Angelo that is headed to Ivie. Should maintain some flow for the rest of the week at least. It's not flowing like it was but it's still moving that way.

I looked at Water Data For Texas site early this morning. They showed Ivie to be 25.7 feet low. That is amazing! Hopefully it will come up some more if it rains tomorrow. Excited to get out on the water & check it out. fish

I know you are playing around with that comment for the most part. The lake record and many sharelunkers were caught 7 to 8 years ago. Do y’all think most are really still there or do you think the low water conditions over the past years did kill most of them? All of this new water should really get the lake going again and this spring should be great. I am just wondering what most of y’all really think the state of the lake as far as the big fish population really is?

No one really knows. When the good Lord puts water in these West Texas lakes great things begin to happen. Then the pressure of 100's of tournaments comes along; so those good things do not last long. If you are one of the luck ones to have fished these lakes many times under these conditions and know where to go on them then you will do well for that short period of time. Without that knowledge then they can be as tough as any other lake. Great Spawns will take place over the next couple of years to continue the gene pool. We just have to keep our fingers crossed that an Algae Boom doesn't take place on any of the lakes that are coming up in the near future.

Do I believe the population of big is down? Yes I do.
Did the low water kill them? Possibly but cant answer that and be truthful.
The number of 6-8lb fish is really good. Seems like the smaller fish numbers are down for me and I think that’s the lack of spawn due to no cover from the low lake level. Next years spawn will be unbelievable in my opinion. There are still some big heifers in there, I’ve caught a few of them this year! But not as many as I have in years past. Is it because they died or did the move out in the river channel and stay out there? I can’t honestly answer that question but this water coming in will do nothing but help in the long run and we will catch some more with this rain today.

The bloom was very small if anything, the major problem at that time was the chemical that was dumped in the river.

The last time Ivie was this full was August 2010.
Hubbard Creek needs 6" more to be full pool.

Ivie is at 23.49' low, the rivers are still running 1500cfs. I hope we catch another foot before the rivers stop running. We have come up 19.4' since Oct 10.

At the lowest point before the lake started rising, Ivie was approximately 82000 acre feet. Now it is almost 217000 acre feet. If my math is correct, that represents a 62.2% increase in acre feet of water. I think that means the lake has more than doubled in size, at least in acre feet.

You are correct, this is the first time in years there has been water on the other side of the causeway.

Was just wondering the same thing, seems odd. Maybe the dam is leaking...

Really good news for San Angelo. Those people haven’t had good news concerning water in many years. Try this: https://www.conchovalleyhomepage.com/water/twin-buttes-equalizes-first-time-since-1994/1559569273

The gauge below the dam doesn't show any dam releases.

It is just the lake settling after the surge of water. Hubbard Creek did the same.

They are not releasing any water at all. One of the gates was leaking some flow over the weekend but has stopped since Sunday. Lake is settling some and should be expected. Sure does look good from my porch!

Just wait, the two straws called Midland and Odessa will have it sucked down to 30 foot low by summer.

Well ain't you just a ray of sunshine. Sadly its true though and as Ivie drops they'll pull from Twin Buttes. Guess we'll have to enjoy it while it lasts.

What the heck is going on out at Ivie? Looked at WATERDATAFORTEXAS this morning and it shows almost a 6' drop from yesterday. Something isn't right.

It looks like there is some heavy rain moving into San Angelo and just NW of Ballinger. Hopefully that will give Ivie another good shot of water.

My area is back to flooded again. Sweetwater will go over the spillway with this round, and hopefully Champion, Ivie and Spence all catch at least a few more feet

Thanks for the info. That makes sense. Probably going to try to fish it in a few weeks. The good news is that it should be a great spawn!!

That ticks me off! They need to let it fill for sure! I mean we still have amazing days out there and no bass from any other lake pull as hard as those bass hands down!

Looking at it now, it doesn't show a drop. Also I was out there today, definitely didn't drop. May have been a glitch earlier in the day. It was doing that with Ivie last.

Yea it got corrected. It was a glitch that all the websites were showing. Stayed that way for a few hours then went back to normal. Was a little worried.

Over the last week Thomas has dropped an average of 61 acre ft per day. That is close to 20,000,000 gallons or almost 4,000 truck loads of water a day. You think they are removing anywhere near that every day?

It is a drop in the bucket and benefits the economy.

If they really are using the lake water for a frac, that so dumb and wasteful. There is no reason companies should pull water from the cycle and forever condemn it and pump it down a well never to be seen again

You are correct they do not use that in a single day, but a frac can use upwards of 200,000+ BBLs of water (8-10 million gallons) if it is a big frac, which not many folks are doing small stage counts anymore in these extended laterals. Also, the amount of water that evaporates off a lake is likely greater than what they use in a single day, I have no sources on this, just what I have been told, evaporation and what they pull for the surrounding areas are likely the greater contributor to dropping water levels. I wish that lake would fill all the way back up, but it has many things working against it.
