Going to head up to LBJ soon for the first time and having trouble finding many ramps on the lake. Looking for a less populated one if feasible.

Thanks!

Depends on where you are staying and where you want to fish. Bluebriar park is a good ramp. Lions Park in Kingsland is not a bad ramp but gets sanded in a little. A Good ramp at the dam also. If you go during the week it wont be busy at all.

I use McNair park usually. Its a good multi lane free ramp with plenty of parking and not very busy. There are also restrooms and a decent sized courtesy dock.

Hey Wes, where the heck is McNair Park? Granite Shoals? I've launched at a fairly nice ramp in GS, but the water is treacherously shallow up there. Better watch your fish finders! smile

I've put in at the H'shoe Bay Marina, Sunrise Village, and Lion's Park. The marina is the best ramp but they're charging $20, or they were last year. Sunrise has one ramp and little to no parking, also very shallow on that side of the lake. Usually I go up to Lion's Park but as you said, it gets real sandy and your feet will get wet if you launch by yourself.

Looks like McNair is in Sunrise Beach Village. A couple of google reviews said it was a free launch. Looks to be about mid lake on the east side. I'll have to try that one. LBJ Yacht club at the SW end of the dam charges $10 to launch. Good ramp but way south if you're fishing upstream a bit.

Have used Granite Shoals public park ramps at Bluebriar and Clear Cove parks. Bluebriar the better of the two.

Crockett Park is in the back of Elm Creek and looks OK on Google Earth with ramp and parking but have never used it. Anyone used it?

The depth at the Elm Creek ramp is two feet. I launched there twice two years ago and won't do it again. I was in that area last week and that area is covered in witches hair and no bites.

Thanks. Google Earth seemed to indicate it looked pretty shallow as well.

That area is shallow on both sides. McNair is low water as well, but isn't as far into a cove as Elm.

I have a house past Crockett Park ramp in Elm creek. It is VERY shallow at the boat ramp!!!

Marina charges $10 and has been as long as I can remember. I've used every ramp at LBJ and the best one is at the marina. McNair is ok and Blue Briar is ok, but I much prefer to pay $10 and use the marina ramp.

The first ramp on the left in Granite Shoals (Clear Cove) isn't horrible, but the ramp in the back is steep and it's shallow around there.

Bluebriar and Clear Cove Park are both decent ramps that are free.

FYI, Bluebriar is NOT free. $15.00 to launch...unless you live there. Never been to Clear Cove. Went to Bluebriar in August.
