Hey everyone,

Heading up to Broken Bow lake this coming weekend for the first time. I have done some research on the forum and online but have received limited info. I understand there are many different coves and fingers on the lake which is good, but I am hoping to find some more info for what to look for in the coves and tips on where the fish hangout in early fall.

Any tips/advice is much appreciated.

Thank you in advance!

Don't know the name of the cove Luke but it was on the northeast corner and had real steep granite looking banks. They were eating black/blue jigs and craw worm right against the bank and letting it free fall. They were also eating a Grande Bass Baby Rattle Snake too. Hope you catch'em.

We were up there in 3rd week of Sept. Fish were feeding each morning at daylight in the Marina on very small bait fish. Caught some of those early then moved out to the main lake. Best fishing for us was on points of islands with steep drop offs using small skirted grub on shaky head. Dragging from shallow then letting it fall. Caught some nice small mouth and spotted bass last 3 days after searching around first day and getting used to the lake. We settled in to launching from the Marina after trying the north East ramps. Beautiful lake and area. Enjoy.

Prepare for the future-it will be here tomorrow.

Thank you!

We do plan on launching at the marina each day and heading out from there.

Luke, I'm headed there this weekend and was curious how your trip ended up.

Small bait fish feeding early to me (means get you a black yellow magic and have a blast on the steep drop points till the sun comes up) they can't see the black of the bait in low light conditions, they will eat that white feather off your yellow magic.

I found that this lake fishes like most of them except for the clear water. It is best to stay off the banks as far as possible. Throw your baits at any stick up on the steep banks. keep throwing at it, there is one in there.
I'll be up there on the lake Friday and Saturday this week.

I've been here at Broken Bow Lake since Friday and we've been having a blast catching those schooling spots. They are very active around the marina, but you can find them in a lot of coves too. We found they will hit a white swim bait the best. I have also caught a few nice large mouth with a rage craw (California Craw color). We have also caught a few smallies around the islands near the dam throwing the swim bait and jerk baits. My son caught a walleye yesterday afternoon on a shad color 6XD in Nancy Branch.

Go way north into the river and throw a [censored] colored crank in the trees. Your welcome
