I moved to West Texas from South Texas where the winters are mild and in West Texas it gets damn cold and windy. I do not want to be a fair weather angler and was curious on your recommendations on cold weather gear. I have a fantastic rain gear set but I need some cold weather gear too. TIA

This is for when it is really really cold. I do not like wearing a lot of bulky clothing and I have experimented with all kinds of different [censored] over 30 years of bass fishing.
4.0 base layer top and bottoms
2.0 base layer top and bottoms
Frogg toggs top and bottoms because they do not breathe therefore retaining your body heat.
Then a pair of 100 or 200 mph bibs.
I do not wear my top rain suit unless it is raining.
I promise you this will get you thru 20 degree weather no problem.

I love my Under Armor base layer 2.0 and 4.0. It's like a second skin, not bulky, and definitely gets the job done down to below freezing, easily.

For me just sweat pants and shirt under an insulated Walls Bib and an insulated rain coat. I've been using it for three years and the only thing that gets cold is my hands. Haven't found a good choice for gloves yet.

Under armor 4.0 and 2.0 and normally just some Jean's and a shirt and hoodie with my rainsuit on top. For really cold I have some academy snow boots with good insoles that I wear with toe warmers. I have put insulated coveralls on also. The key is not to sweat.

Wool socks are a must. Stick on bodywarmer on the lower back on your base layer. No cotton shirts. I have a down vest from rei that I have found too be the deal.

I have a an rei pull over top with zip up neckline that is 53% polyester, 38% nylon and 9% spandex. No it is not skin tight fitting but does have a little bit of stretch to it.
Keeps me warm and can really ever wear it if under 40 degrees or it is to hot.
I was fly fishing frying pan river in Colorado one morning with temp in upper 30's. Took a spill in the river and when I came up thought my day would be over.
The top kept me warm even though it had just gone under water. Eventually day warmed up and had to take that top off.

Thumbs up for the frog togs. Cheap, and agree keep the wind, rain out and maintain body heat.
Had mine for years wear them bird hunting up in Illinois or when fishing and really cold or wet.

I like the smart wool brand socks also.

For the hands picked up some Glacier Gloves Alaska River Flip Mitts I am anxious to try out.
Fleece lined Half fingered gloves with a mitten top that flips over.
Neopreme palm for grip.
Has velcro on back of flip mit and at wrist if want to keep mit open but not flipping around
Velcro closure around wrist.

Any recommendations on comfortable, lightweight, waterproof, all season footwear?
