GBRA has to build a new 6 million dollar office building before any thoughts on repairing the Lake Wood Dam. Basically, it will not be fixed anytime soon.

GBRA says they have no money in the electrical generating fund which is what the dam was intended for. They claim the generators haven't run in years and even at full capacity it would take something like 100 years to pay for fixing the dam. And of course their engineers came up with the most elaborate and expensive fix possible. The gates of the dam are ONLY used to lower the lake level for maintenance of the dam and nothing else. In my opinion, why do you need a super hydraulic gate system just to lower the lake 2 feet? That could be done thru the power house.

Oh, GBRA says if they repaired the dam they would have to repair all the dams in the system at the same time which runs the cost up to around 10 million and they could never recover that cost. But as I said before, they have the money to build a new officve building in New Braunfels, and to go to meetings all over the US on regular basis.

GBRA refuses to answer why the generators have not been repaired over the last years, I know for a fact they operated during the 60's thru the 80"s.
