The funnel point threads have been very interesting. I've looked at Ray Hubbard and can't see many of these points, but that may be because I don't completely understand it. It doesn't have a lot of coves or points or boat docks or grass. The most productive spots that I know of seem to be rip rap, marinas, coves and the river. There are still a lot of nice fish caught on Hubbard.
Are there a lot of funnel points to the trained eye on Ray Hubbard?
If it lacks a lot of funnel points, what do you look for next?
Exactly as you said. It is lacking in Funnel Points. It does have some good contours on 5 or 6 areas; but you have to turn your attention and learn to fish the areas as you mentioned. Bass like shade.

Am I right in saying Lake Lavon has quite a few funnel points?
Prepare for the future-it will be here tomorrow. Personal Best Large Mouth Bass 9 lbs. 12 oz 5/13/19. Herb Stein, who famously reminded us that “if something can’t go on forever, it will stop.”

Ray Hubbard has a ton of levys and there are several spots where they broke them when impounding the lake. You just have to look around. There are also a ton of tank dams. I wish I still lived close because me and several of the OG RHBC guys knew them and they produced. If you cant find them, the best funnels are under I30 and hwy 66. And flipping reeds by the hot water outlet were great.

Funnels are not a panacea for big bass fishing. They are just one type of structure that can concentrate big bass. They exist on most lakes, but not always. The whole concept is predicated on John Hopes observation that big bass suspend offshore from their primary feeding area for most of the day. I believe this concept probably holds true for a lot of water in Texas. Maybe a lot of water in the south. Not sure it holds true for water in other areas of the country. In California for instance saddles/feeding benches seem to be the key big bass structure. Tom Young caught a ton of big fish (15lbs+) off these and also claimed to have targeted some world record class fish on them. Different water, different structure, different climates... All are going to drive slightly different behavior. Largemouth bass are highly adaptable. Info on saddles and feeding benches if interested. https://www.lunkerlore.com/single-post/2018/09/12/Trophy-Haunts-Saddles-and-Benches

As was said this is why I enjoy reading the posts here on TFF. And don't laugh the same principles you are talking about for bass work nicely for trophy specs on the coast. Little changes in the bottom guide the fishes daily migration. Tight lines!
