My granddaughter is a senior and attends school from 9am to 1:30pm.
Daughter says it's to give seniors time for college courses or to work.
The college courses don't start til next semester and she is not working.

My senior year I was taking a fullloadof courses. Any open period of requiring a course that was required graduation had to be filled with some other course. School started at 8am and continued until 3:30pm.

So how does Texas School a get by with half days for seniors?

I had half days when I was a senior. Had two off periods and they both fell after lunch so worked out really well. I'm not sure why you see this as a problem seems like a good chance for her to get a job

Most HS Seniors actually have enough credits to graduate by halfway through their Sr year, especially if they are taking AP classes. I know I did back in 1980.
Different Districts have different scheduling rules.

My senior year, 2nd semester, I had swimming as homeroom and 1st period, and had an English AP class for 2nd period. Nothing past that. Was done with school by 10:30 every day.

My daughter is a senior, she starts school at 7:30 and then gets off at 11 for the work program. If she wasn't in the work program, she would have a full day of classes, but she only needs 2 more credits to graduate.

In HI we only went to high school half days, odds one day and evens the next. Started at 0800 and ended at 1230.

My question is, how did you ever graduate?

This was exactly my situation in 1973. I took college classes in 3 of the afternoons and voluntarily stayed over in my drafting class to improve my skills the other 2 days. Thought I might want to use that somewhere on my career path. AutoCAD put those skills obsolete quick enough. And I worked part time at Piggly Wiggly. I can still hand letter pretty good when i want to so i guess that's handy once in a while.

They still make people learn it in conjunction with autoCAD and the other software programs. My wife and a buddy of mine both complained about it when they were in grad school for landscape architecture and some sort of engineering, respectively.

I had Ag mechanics for first 2 periods, study hall, English 3, lunch then 3 periods of building trades. off last period to go to work at the Piggly Wiggly. Senior year was a breeze. wish I could remember some of it. pollo

I just submitted my 2nd provisional patent which requires drawings to be included. I pulled out all my 7th grade drafting skills and went to town. They were not too bad and I would guess I would've got a C- if it was turned in.

My senior year I had finished about 1/3 of the way into the year. I took wood shop and metal shop and pretty much had the rest of the day off.

I took auto shop one semester

I was given a 4 gal Rochester carb off of some junk v-8 that was getting overhauled

Was given the carb and a rebuild kit.

Told to take it apart and put it back together.

If it worked I'd get an A

I got the A

I always hated working on Q-jets. Have a buddy that used to be able to take them apart and put them back together in his sleep.

Derek does all my carb work. Natty light will clean a carb in no time flat.
