Have a 2017 skeeter fx21, getting my oil changed now so can’t check the amp draw of my charger. Looking at a good outdoor extension cord in either 50’ or 100’

I don’t want/need to go cheap, I want a good cord that will get the job done. What amp and/or gauge do you guys recommend?

Any certain brands?

Get a heavy duty one from Home Depot or Northern Tools.

Get a 12/3 at minimum for a long run. 10/3 would be preferred.

Oops. What charger? That would be a deciding factor.

Haha. Try a Kimber Kable Wattgate Rhodium plated plug ends and some 8ga 6 conductor twisted silver cable. You can build an extention cord that would make a Ranger boat seem inexpensive.

Yeh. An Orange cable works.

I use a 10/3 100' model from Lowe's on mine.

Once I get the shed built I won't need it anymore.

Don't care what color or kind you get but get one with lighter plug in at the boat end showing you actually have good power to charger.
i learned this the hard way at Sam Rayburn once

I would have bought hot pink if they had it. That is what we do with lawn chairs these days. We buy the brightest and ugliest colors so we can tell which ones are ours at a get together or game.... roflmao

If an extension cord can survive Monte Coon then all is well. roflmao

Charger outputting 20 amp at 12 volts equals 240 watts.

240 watts / 120 volts = 2amps.

40 amp charger = 4 amps @ 120 volts.

So for every 10 amps on your charger 1 amp on your cord.

Your average extension cord is good for 10 Amps or more.

Well. Sort of. Don’t forget to allow for significant voltage drop which increases amperage draw. And the average efficiency of a typical charger runs about 40% efficient, so multiply the new draw times 1.6.

You get the idea.

I don’t know about you, but my garage lights dim when I plug in my 4-bank.

Charger should list how many amps it needs on 120vac. Your not going to see much voltage drop on a cord 100ft or less at 4 amps unless the socket wiring isn't sufficient.

Didn't think I'd see the day where you now need a high dollar extension cord to catch fish......

I've been using the same one from Walmart for years.....
