2017 crew 4x4 long bed with 6.2l gasser. Been getting 14 mpg like clockwork, unloaded. Will drop to 13 when the weather cools. Around 9-10 mpg when I tow the boat. 5-6 mpg when I tow the travel trailer.

A few questions, I'm no truck or engine expert, but doesn't an engine run more efficient in cooler weather? Running more efficient should mean better MPG, right? Also wouldn't cooler weather mean less use of the AC, which also puts an added strain on the MPG? So, why would you get worse MPG in cooler weather? Am I missing something here?

I have a 2017 F250 Crew Cab Short bed 6.2 gas 3.73 on 35s and I get around 10 pulling the Bassscat on the highway running 75, no boat I get 15 highway and 13 city. If you are going to get a gas truck and have the option I recommend going with the 4.30 gear ratio.

Yes, it should be the other way around.

Why would you spend that much money on a truck just to pull a boat? That seems like a huge waste of money. I need a diesel to carry all the natural testosterone I produce.

Dodge 2500s with the cummins are getting 20ish mpg. Something to consider maybe in 2005 they did....now they get 12-14mpg like the rest of them

More idle time and it takes longer for the transmission oil to warm and thin out (and probably other fluids, differential for example).

I have a 17' SWB F-250 crew 4x4.
I have 35" toyo all terrains w/ the 3:55 rear end.
Avg. I get around 14-15 mpg. I drive fast, and also drive a lot off road. its hilly where I live as well so that doesent help
I love the truck, and diesels hold their value much better.
Bass boats are not heavy, look into the new diesel F150's here in about 6-8 months when the price on them drops. you can get one now but you will pay the same as a diesel CC. If all I pulled was a boat I would go that route

Go getcha one. I have a 2011 F-350 6.7 diesel. It stays hooked up to trailers and hauls pretty decent loads regularly. I get 13.8 MPG. I wouldn't touch a 3/4 or 1 ton gasser. Yes the diesel is more money up front, maintenance can be more, but you will get it all back when you decide to trade it in. There is not much market or demand for gassers bigger than a 1/2 ton.

I think you are confusing outboards running better on less dense and dryer air with vehicles in cooler weather. If it was easy to measure MPGs on an outboard we might find the same thing. All of my Toyotas have done worse on mileage in the winter. Some blame it on the winter blend I think it is more about a cooler engine not running as efficient. I have run mine and measured MPGs in cold or cooler weather prior to the switch to winter blend and MPGs have been lower.

A 4x4 (which is what I drive) with appropriate sized tires will not My partner has had 3 of them in a row. Before DEF, a 4x4 would do it all day long. His last dodge diesel truck ( A 2014) with 35s was a 12-14 mpg at best truck

I dont know why anyone would ever consider buying a gas 3/4 ton. Diesel is 40 cents more a gallon.
