Well, I got on the water later, around 10:30 AM so I missed the morning bite. Didn't have long, thought I'd fish a few hours, never left sight of the boat ramps. I floated over and fished the AMWA boathouse, nothing home today, then back into the little cove next to it. I missed snagging a really nice bass . . . I could tell by the bend in my rod. Thought maybe I'd lost the opportunity but after a few minutes elsewhere in the cove, I pitched my drop shot right back where that fish was, caught her. 3+ pounds but likely less than 4. Then, I floated across to the other side near those standing white plastic pipes that mark an underwater gas line or something. On my first cast, I hooked up with a really nice bass. A boat coming back in watched me struggle with the fish. Not really an issue . . . but I was using finesse gear and a rather tiny 1/0 light wire Rebarb hook tied to an 8 lbs. leader. I was just being very careful, the bass went down into the grass being obstinate. So, I made motion indicating I needed a scale, the two men trolled over and I handed her off to be weighed. 6 lbs. 5 ozs. Gosh, I thought she'd be a bit heavier than that. I think her tummy was full of shad. Shad were all over the lake making for nice easy meals. A few other bass of no consequence size-wise and off I pedaled back over and off the water after a few fun hours of fishing. I missed all the rain, the weather was great, slightly humid. Funny how fishing goes . . . one cast after the 6+ pounder, I pitch out again and look what grabbed on! Cheers! Brad

Good one! Hey Brad, I plan on heading over to Naconiche in the morning. Didn't know if you were going to be there, don't have any idea how early I'll launch, but will hang a right at ramp and head up that way a half mile or so. Will try to see any other guys on the water. Never mind.. just realized I'm a month early but still going tomorrow.
