Have a gas station selling 87 octane non ethanol fuel. Yamaha says best to use 89 octane. Would it be better to go with lower octane non ethanol or ethanol 89? Thoughts.

It is more dangerous to run lower octane fuel than recommended because of possible detonation damage. You could add some octane booster to the 87 to be safe.
