 Lady Bird Lake Austin Again!

Myself and good friend Jeff headed north on IH 35 and fished the Lady Bird Lake again. We fished this past Thursday. We launched behind the Holiday Inn. We fished west of IH 35 from 7:30am till 3pm. Water was stained. We caught several nice Redear over 10" and a bunch of Redbreast in the 8 to 10 inch range. Rounding out the catch were several nice Bluegill in the 8 to 9 inch range,a few Rios in the 9" range,and a couple of bass in the 2 to 4 pound range. Jeff had a nice carp fight for about five minutes and lost it on a snag. Fish were caught on both ultralight spinning gear and fly gear. Little Georges,Rooster Tails,and small crank baits were the baits used for the spinning gear. Chartreuse/Black gets the best results. A Brown sinking Salamander and Craw Fish got good results on the fly. Most fish were caught close to grass beds in 6 to 10 feet of water. The Rios were in 3 to 5 feet of water hanging close to the bank by structure. All fish were released to fight again. Love fishing that Austin area!
