I'm going to be off work for about 12 days in the middle of October and am thinking of making a trip there for a few days. Never been before so any tips, areas to fish, lodging, or advice would be helpful. Not asking for anyone's secret spots just areas in general for some decent fishing. Thanks

Read James's write up in Falcon lake tackle website, he is pretty thorough and will help you get started.

Look for bait and you will find the fish. Should be hard to go wrong with all the newly flooded green stuff.
