Made a run to the lake after church this morning. Found the main lake to have clean water, but arms are quite muddy. Most of the brush piles I like to fish are up creeks, so didn't bother with them. I think fish would still be there, but hunkered down.
Went to a rocky point in mid area lake. Found fish and bait on down wind side of point.

Set up and started bouncing jigs on the point for a couple hours. Found most productive bite casting to the top and bouncing jig down the south side of the point. Caught around 25- 30 fish with a dozen 12" or so kept for the table.

Had a nice little pool party going in the back of the boat. Was off the lake and headed home by 1:00.

Almost forgot. The bait of choice today was a Bonehead stump bug in silver shad on 1/8oz. jig head.

I found some nice ones in the trees today. some of the trees that are normally not productive held fish today in this high water situation. NOthing huge but all nice ones. The fish liked 15 foot or more and were just off the bottom tight to the structure. 12 inch variety. All trees weren't productive, but I caught a limit off of two trees. 4 pm - 6 pm on a tandem tube jig. Tried to catch some cats for the last hour and a half with no luck.

Wrestlefish, I had fishing trees as plan B yesterday. What kind of water clarity did you have? Were they in cleaner water ahead of the mud line or back up in the off color areas?

Honestly my plan was to go catfishing. Thought the water would be too muddy for crappie but I always check the trees next to the cut on the main lake side. Sometimes they produce. sometimes they don't. I caught a good mess in muddy water somehow, and then I couldn't catch any catfish with good bait. Go figure.
