I am located around the Uvalde area. My question for you all is there any crappie in the Guadalupe river that runs thru Kerrville? I am looking for some different places to fish for them but not sure where to go. So thought I would come to you guys and ask. Not asking for your spots just wondering if there are any crappie in it.

Thanks.

I don't think the guad sustains crappie. In a nutshell, it is a fast moving river with no real depth to it at all. I'm sure on occasion a fish or two may get sucked into the guad when they open the dam upstream(for ex. below the dam at canyon lake). I have heard of an occasional striper being caught below the dam under the same circumstance-too few and far between...I don't think I would consider fishing the guadalupe for crappie...just my 2 cents.

Wait a dang minute...you are supposed to be guiding hunters, not fishing!

I have been doing that. Along with fixing fence and working on drive way since we have been flooding. In fact we are flooding as we speak. Just was thinking about fishing.

I caught a few small ones below the dam at Guadalupe and Margaret in Kerrville one day just messing around. I'm sure the "lakes" up there have some decent populations if you can locate them.

No fish is too good for the grease.

I have caught a fair share of crappie on the Guadalupe just ABOVE Canyon Lake. Should still be close enough?
