After a miserable summer because of the heat and illness I finally made the Wednesday "old coots" fishing day at the Lynn Creek Marina. The regular clerk at the marina had a knee replacement and will be in rehab for another month. The kid who is subbing for him was an hour late opening up. I got started fishing at 7 AM.

The lake is 2 feet low and very clear. The wind was calm this morning.

The vegetation is back. Three years ago the lake flooded and stayed 16 feet high for months. All the water vegetation died. The fishing suffered badly for lack of cover in the marina cove.

I caught dozens of small bluegill on night crawler pieces. but no large fish. I tried water depths from one foot to bottom in 10 feet of water. At every depth I caught fish at the edges of the grass beds, but no large fish.

I suspect the bigger fish have left the marina cove for deeper water in the open lake. However, I never catch many bigger fish when the water is still and clear with no wind.

It was very nice finally to be able to fish again.

Nice post Smithaven. Glad you are feeling better and are able to fish again. You are right on the money about the heat. It took it's tole on me also. It was a very HOT summer. Always enjoy reading your post. Love reading reports from other water bodies.

Love those Joe Pool reports. Good job. You should start catching some bigger fish once the fall bite takes place. Those sunnies will be trying to get fat before the winter sets in! thumb

Say Smithaven. Have you been getting any rain in your area?

We got a total of 7.9 inches for all of last week. It was very localized. Some people got less than 2 inches. Rain rates as high as 6 inches/hour were reported. I considered starting on an ark.

Well, Joe Pool went from being almost a foot and a half low to 3.5 feet high in a couple of days. The water is up to the pavilions in Lynn Creek park
