Here are the details direct from BASS.

https://www.bassmaster.com/news/bass-redefines-professional-bass-fishing-2019-elite-series

This line in the press release really stands out.

So, for the first time in the history of professional bass fishing, anglers are actually being paid by the league to fish.

He might not be as well known but he does have a TV show that's ran for years which is way more than most anglers can claim!

Maybe chasinbass should have gotten the invite too.

Dude,
You might want to do a little fact checking before you start running your mouth about someone you obviously know very little about.. Little Timmy is deserving...

No no he is not. he is no where near the top 80 currently fishing in both tours.he hasn't even qualified for a classic since what 12 13? That means hes not top 50 with bass. Much less top 40 if they were to choose equally.

Amazing what B.A.S.S. can do when their backs are against the wall. They're certainly pulling out all the stops. Should have happened long ago. And B.A.S.S. isn't the first to pay the entire field. That distinction goes to the TTBC and Gulf States Toyota.

Here are the BPT details:

They deviated a bit from the MLF format as they are gonna allow practice days.

The above seems to address only the 2019 Elite series. No real hint if this is their plan only for 2019 (assume it's a try at countering BPT) or if it will be the model for 2019 and subsequent years into the future.

Holy payouts!! No wonder so many anglers are upset they didn't get an invite. That's awesome!

I like how the first sentence in the article, says After 50 years, BASS is making this change. NOOOOO....Its after MLF made their play did you come up with this. Ridiculous and extremely arrogant at the same time.

How disingenuous of B.A.S.S. I think BPT's numbers and game plan are still superior. If I were a BPT invitee, I'd be long gone.

Here's the deal. BPT will get 60 elites in my opinion. If the first 60 invites don't all go, they will invite the next so many, and so on, until they get 60. I'm sure they will do the same with FLW.

So, in part, the reason BASS went to an 80 angler field was due to this mass exodus. Even still, I think they will have to dig deep into the Opens field to get to 80. Just my .02 cents.

However...with all of that being said, this is actually a great opportunity for the 2018 elite rookies and even the 2017 guys. You get to fish for a lot less and don't have to fish against KVD.

Very seldom does a big corporation change its way of doing business if it is profitable until forced to do so.
Walmart didnt get into on line sales until Amazon started taking substantial business.
American car companies didnt start building real quality until the Japanese showed up.
Pro sports owners did not pay their players hardly anything until collective bargaining came about.
BASS isnt doing anything that any other profitable corporation in this country would not have done.
Now that they have to they will. It is actually a good thing for all of the fishermen.

Not arguing with you here simply asking. How are these Open anglers (if they have to resort to that) going to be able to pay their entry fees? Do you really believe there are 20,30,40 or 50 Open anglers with the ability to pay for entry fees and travel for a full BASS season? It's still going to be $75k plus to handle fees and travel for the new guys.

Where's that sponsorship money coming from if the BASS platform is diluted?

Yessir, that whole article seems a little shakey to me, I think BASS is in shock, maybe they can afford doing this in 2019 but can they do it for 3 year like MLF is set too???, make no doubt this is damage control.

I think Mr. Morris is gonna drive BASS to the brink and then buy them at bottom dollar and own the market and use FLW as a grassroots.

BASS should have listened to the anglers a long time ago. They brought this on to themselves.

Why cancel the western tourneys and then come back and make it more profitable for the anglers. When they could have brought this up weeks ago. Whatever they lost my support when they cancelled the weekend series and made it a pro tour only company. Whatever dude
