Anybody having any luck with top water lures for stripers or sand bass on Lake Whitney?
Where are they? Time of day? Kind of lures?
Is life shad still working? Depth?
Wanting to take my boss....

Asking a lot... Thanks!

I was there the last few days (while really cloudy) Whites popping up chasing bait all around Walling Island all through out the day, slabs, spoons top water, whatever you throw. But then again i'm sure all the clouds helped that.

I would think as willing as they were, topwater would be a little more work than necessary considering how fast and far you can work a spoon running it shallow. My wife thought it was a hoot chasing them around.

I was on Whitney both Saturday and Sunday mornings. The top water bite was awesome on Saturday while it was overcast but it was all smaller fish around 15" Sunday they were up and gone real quick and we only caugh a few. After they went down I didn't have any luck with jigs or slabs but I watched guys fishing close to me boat their limits on live shad, Fish were holding in 15 to 30 foot of water but scattered.

was out there today. saw em hitting on top all day but they never really schooled up good enough to chase. They were knocking shad out of the water right near the boat. Was able to find a few using larg flutter spoons and slabs. Most of the ones caught were just under or right at the limit.

We finally had some success this morning. Me and my son boated about 10 fish but he completely out fished the old man.

Are the fish finally back to hitting lures or do you need live bait? Any updates would be appreciated!
