Asking question here because I received no responses in the Lowrance Section.

Totalscan Question:

I have the TS mounted on the Trolling Motor/HDS 9 G3. Settings have the TS as the transducer. Why are the depth readings on a split screen different for DI as compared to 2D? It can be from 1' to almost 2' difference between DI and 2D. I'm puzzled. Also, offset settings are zero. Thanks.

Im sure someone will be along to tell me Im wrong but I think and have always figured that.
The depth is shown as what you see on the very most right side of the screen.
Sonar has a narrower cone angle than Di so di is seeing the bottom further to the side than sonar.
With the difference in cone angle in ds and the fact that it is a more slanted view the depth should show deeper with di.
If both could show both directly under the boat it would most likely match.

Thank you. That sounds logical. I will compare the R edges next time I'm out. But it seems when I had the LSS-1 at the bow and used the TM sonar, the depths were nearly perfectly in alignment.

make sure you're reading the "depth". Another setting is for "structure depth" on the Lowrance; just to make sure.

One 10-pounder is better than ten 1-pounders; but 100 1-pounders is ok too!
