Looking for recommendations, want to take a three day weekend and take the camper or rent a cabin and do some kayak fishing in southern Oklahoma or north Texas. Any help would be appreciated!

It may not be of much help but I just drove through Oklahoma today on my way to Kansas. Every river I passed had water in it, really made me wish I was fishing instead of heading to work. I dont think youd have much trouble finding somewhere to fish. Camping Im afraid I cant be any help with. Good luck!!

One of my favorites is Beavers Bend State park and the surrounding area. Also in southern Oklahoma is Lake Murray. For a southern Ok and north Texas combo go to Lake Texoma.

Not sure where you are coming from, but I just returned from the Little Missouri River in Murfreesboro, AR. Beautiful water filled with trout and bass. You have a lot of options for the RV at SWAHA or you can rent a cabin. We rented a 2br cabin for a few days on Lake Gleeson.

Definitely Beavers Bend or Lake Murray, both great spots that seem like they should be in colorado and not oklahoma, great smallmouth fishing also

Agree with Beavers Bend recommendation - very nice state park there for camping or you can rent a cabin just outside the park. It is a little farther to the north, but the Illinois River and Lake Tenkiller are also very nice for paddling and fishing.

Lake Murray will be a party lake the next couple of weekends Lake of the Arbuckles is a great place (after labor day) for the camper with nice campsites and cabins if you wish, really clear water both will be crowded or full if labor day is your 3 day weekend

I go to Lake Murray several times a year and I always stay at the same campsite at Elephant Rock which is right on the water. The next trip I take will be the first with my kayak.

Murray is great. Nobody out early in the morning and while the time I went fishing was super slow. my pals have done great there in the past. Caught some good smallies. I am going back for sure this coming spring.

Tenkiller is nice, but might be a little more north then you want to go

Kiamichi Kampground north of Antlers has basic cabins and tentsites on the Kiamichi River in some scenic hills.
