So last night I fished with a buddy. He uses spider cut jigs I use more traditional solid color not cut. He kicked my butt. But I’m wondering if it was the style vs color. We were fishing at night. Mine was brown rubber with silicone strands his was all rubber had a little chartreuse in it and brown and red. My jig has worked everywhere but this lake so far. What says the Texas crew

Not sure what you mean by "spider cut" but my son just moved to Bella Vista.

Can you post a pic?

I throw jigs 75 percent of the time and I’ve had days where the spider jig worked better. I think it’s profile looks more like a crawfish

I will try them I guess. I like he more solid color strands not the stripe ones. Never see a stripped crawfish. I use a jig that looks a lot like a mop jig. It doesn’t seem to work in this lake so far. Kind of strange

I use the spider jig 90% of the time 1-30ft and my best jig has 4 colors in it. Don't be stuck on just solid strands

I fish with and make both types. I was shocked, however, when I was testing both in my swimming pool this summer. The spider-type skirt looks so much more natural in the water. With a craw trailer, it is difficult for me to image that imitates a crawfish any better.

Agree with Branden, only jigs I throw that aren't, are 3/4 oz. Football jigs. Most crawfish blend with their surroundings, (grass, limestone, etc.), multi-colored skirts allow for matching those colors to trailers, for each lake.
