Fished both Lake Dunlap and Lake Mcqueeney this past Thursday. Mcqueeney in the morning and Dunlap in the late afternoon. Both lakes were fished from Kayak. Lake levels are low on both lakes due to scheduled dam maintenance. Fished the main lake on Mcqueeney and caught plenty of good eating size Bluegill in the 8 to 9 inch range. The Bluegill were staged by docks by the Treasure Island area in 6 to 8 feet of water. Also picked up some nice Redear 10 to 11 inches by the Treasure Island Bridge. A few Crappie and a couple of bass rounded out the catch. Fish were caught from both fly rod and ultralight tackle. Silver/Blue and Red/White Rooster Tails got good results. Sinking Crawdad got the best results on the fly. Finished the day on Lake Dunlap and picked up some nice Bluegill and Redbreast. Also caught a couple of bass in the 2 to 4 pound range. Had a nice Rio on the fly but it got off at the yak. Small crank baits Chartreuse/Black,and Red/White Rooster Tails got the best results. Black Crawdad was the fly that got the best results. All fish on Dunlap were located by docks in 10 feet of water. The bite was good on both lakes. Boat traffic was light on both lakes also. Love those river lakes this time of year. woot

Great report LO! Seems you have those Crappie locations down! Good job!

Side Note: What baits are you using for the Crappie?

Laker...Thanks for the report. Just how low is Dunlap, & do you know when it is supposed to be back to normal? I will probably wait til the 1st cool front to hit Dunlap since the bite is so strong at Fayette right now...

It's several feet low! I have heard that lake levels should be back up to normal level by mid to late September. The dam maintenance usually last about 20 to thirty days. Gitter: I use jigs on the crappie. Chartreuse/Black are working well. woot
