This isn't always the case. There are plenty of good anglers who can compete but they can't speak, aren't marketable, don't have a platform, etc and they're left behind in a 2018 world. Professional angling requires more than just on the water skills and performance. Long gone are the days of winning an event or the Classic and sponsors showing up at your door.


I just dont see that. There are guys better at the marketing side than others but I guarantee if a guy wins thru the low ranks up to the classic and wins it, hes going to have something on his boat and Jersey. I would say the same for a team or guy that shows up at east texas trails and dominates for a couple years. Somebody will want their name on that person

a lot of anglers have many names an logos on trucks an boats not many get paid for it.

Fishing for your own money at the tour level isn’t professional.
Having 12 sponsors and 5 of them non fishing related is. That is where the guys making a good living are. It isnt grinding out a top 50 week in, week out. At that level one would hope to have the fishing skills mastered.
