i have an 08 yamaha 115 two stroke v4. it always runs pretty good. two days ago when my boat on plane i can't push the handle all the way down like it suppose to when i try to speed up. so i try to push the handle down a little harder to see if will go down more, with no success. it only can get 70% of RPM. when i come to stop, soon as i pull the handle back to neutral position the outboard motor slowly die off. then the engine never can be start again, when you turning the key the engine just cranking, act like no gas going in...did i broke the throttle cable? now at my garage, i took the cowling off, when i push the handle down only the shifting cable move, the throttle cable still. have called rockwall marine and plano marine, they are all 4 weeks out. all your input are greatly appreciated.

Are you capable of changing the throttle cable? You might check Youtube for a video. Take the throttle cable loose at the motor and pull on the end connector. Numbers and length for a new cable will be printed on the old one.

thanks for the response. after feather inspection, found out that a plastic link joint from oil pump was broken and the link rod got stuck in between. had ordered that plastic joint on line and it cost 17 bucks. meanwhile with helps with superglue and some braid lines, i was able to make that broken joint working fine. motor is running like a champ again now. sure makes me feel good. have a good long weekend guys.

Save yourself a big headache and replace both cables at the same time. If one goes, the other never seems far behind.
