Been using a low profile, low spool capacity reel for c-rigging. Wondering if I can increase casting distance with a wide spool reel or is it better to opt for more bearings.....currently using a Revo SX. What's your thoughts gang.

You should be able to get good distance out of your Revo SX. I prefer to have the same feel so I would stick to low profile to give up a little capacity. As long as that Revo is full you shouldnt be casting past its reasonable capacity.

With a wider or deeper spool you can get a little more casting distance due to less rotations because of the width or depth of the spool.

As far as the OPs question goes Im not sure if Abu sells deeper spools for the SX but I throw Concept As from 13 Fishing and I can get a deeper spool in a low profile reel which I have considered doing for a couple of my reels because I can launch it a mile with 20# flouro and get quite low on the spool.

If you can't find em wind em.

I use a Shimano ihg holds plenty of line with a 1oz weight it will cast about half the spool.

Lews BB1 or Super Duty Wide Spool. I have both reels but use the BB1 for C-Rig. If you can cast far I think deep spools are better because you lose gear ratio as you cast off line especially if your using a heavier test line as your main line.

Gonna be hard to beat the new Shimano Curado K for that. Wider 200-Series spool in a smaller profile reel than previous Curados. It is a home run for Shimano.

I c rig with a spinning rod and reel.

I can cast a big worm (12") and separate weight (2-5')much further and easier and I have a spinning rod that is the same as my mh casting rods.

I also have both of these reels and switched over to the Super Duty wide spool for my C-rig because I use 20# Invizx as my main line and that reel holds a lot of line. You can get very long distance casts with it. I have it in the 7-1 gear ratio.

I also use the super duty wide spool for throwing large swim baits, but with a slower gear ratio.

I thought that same thing but then I spooled one up with 20# Invizx and can throw the C-rig all the way down to the spool. I did not like that so I switched to the Lews Super Duty wide spool.

I use the Tatula for other techniques. It is a fantastic reel also.

I would have to agree with Ken that the new Shimano K is a home run for Shimano. They flopped with the G series, and floundered with the I series but the K is a fantastic reel. I love them for pitching Tx. rigs and jigs.
