Are there any usable ramps? If so which one? This is assuming the lake is low. Thanks

Thank you Steez. Me and the kids may try it in the morning or possibly Joe Pool. Seems like Waxahachie was closed on the Fourth of July to non residents hopefully theyll be open to public tomorrow.

Not sure. I did notice a bunch of fence metal t-posts stuck in the ground last Monday. Seems like they are doing the same thing this weekend. I don't know for sure, but it is the same "planning" as last major holiday.

Its not the boaters that are the problem its all the people trashing the parks and ramp area. Guess homeowners are crying about it but that is lake living. Should have known that before moving to a lake. Just need law enforcement to do their job and leave those that cause no trouble alone. Just my two cents. J D

But the "lake living" part I disagree with. Home owners shouldn't have to accept a trashy neighborhood at the sake of living close to the lake. I can say, for FACT!, that the problem isn't the bass boats and their owners. The guys I know and see fishing that lake are very polite and clean up after themselves. It's the younger hooligans that trash it up. Do donuts in the parking lots. Use the park roads to practice drifting. Drag logs into the swim area to use as jet flea ramps, etc. Shame. The ones that take care of the lake get left out on holidays. Oh well.....Clark fishes better. Ha

On a side note. There is a little known ramp on the southwest side that nobody ever uses. If it were critical that you went to that lake....just use the hidden ramp.

It's in the A southwest corner of the upper end. Right next to the only cement dock on the lake.

In the back of the lower cove in the picture. Is the ramp. It's shallow getting through to the ramp, but the ramp is usable.

The first picture is of the upper end of the lake. The cove at the bottom of the picture is the cove where the hidden entrance is to the ramp. The second pic is of the ramp itself. This is an intermediate picture. Zoomed in from the first picture, but not as far as the second picture. Trust me...if you go across the upper end of the lake from the west boat ramp.....head west along that bank...you will eventually see the hidden cut between the boat houses and troll into the little pocket where the ramp is. Edit....the coordinates are in the picture. Punch em into your gps and go there.

How deep is water back there? J D right now? Probably 2-2-1/2 ft max. The lake is low. But.....the ramp is deep. It's like a little bowl back there. Oh......never fish it. It never has fish on the deep end of that ramp. Ha

Thanks I see it never knew it was there I fished the lake for a few years. Then, one day, a lake front owner was working on his boat as I trolled through flipping docks. He asked if I would do him a big favor and pull his boat "around to the ramp a few 100 yards" from where his house was. I was confused, but agreed. He kept saying "we almos der". Haha. Then, there it was. He said it was one of the first ramps made for the lake by the home owners on that side of the lake. He said it is open to anyone to use, but there ain't no bathrooms. He said plenty of parking. I've never used the ramp, but it is easily doable. Just a good drive to get around to that side of the lake from Red Oak.

You have to take Hwy 77 down to Lake Shore to get there. Can't access it driving around the lake. I used to live on that road just across from that ramp.

Look on Google Maps. Punch in 300 block of Lakewood Drive in Waxahachie and you will see it. My brother in law just built a house a block away & I saw it the other day. You CAN access it from by driving around the east(dam) side but you have to go WAY out of the way. Fastest going south on 77 as mentioned above. That south side west end(upper) neighborhood is a long way from town by road. Didnt look doable but if Steez says it will work than it ought to be OK......

Yes anyone can use it but there isn't a real parking lot. Just have to park in the grass lot. It is kind of hidden from the lake side and easy to miss if you don't know what you are looking for. Not sure about now but when I lived there only the residents on those couple of streets used it. Barring a particular reason to need to drive all the way around to it, I wouldn't ever use it. The other ramps are much better for launching a boat.
