Been having a BLAST fishing with Rick aka Catyakker this year. We have covered a lot of water bodies across the state and made some long road trips. We have been catching some very nice Rios,Redear, and Redbreast all spring/summer long. These past couple of weeks we have been catching a lot of 10 plus inch sunnies including an 11" Redear caught by Rick while fishing lake Mcqueeney this week. Paper work will be submitted to the Texas Parks&Wildlife for the Lake Mcqueeney Catch&Release Record. Rick beat my old record of 10:50". The Nueces River,Lake Nueces,Cibolo Creek,Lake Dunlap,and Lake Mcqueeney have produced nicely the past two weeks for trophy fish. Fish were all caught on the "Bait Of Champions" WORMS,using ultra light tackle. Fish were all in shallow water 2 to 4 feet deep and were caught in the morning hours. Fish were staged by docks,brush piles,bridge pillars,and over hanging tree limbs. Drop shot,and basic sinker/hook set-ups were used. All fish were released to fight again. Catching plenty of TROPHY FISH with the Catyakker. It just don't get any better!

CONGRATULATIONS RICK! You caught one SUPER fish! Got to give you a lot of credit not only finding em but staying on em! Hard fishing "Paid Off"! Super job and looking forward to seeing more super fish!




Side Note: Rick also had a "SUPER HUGE" Rio that got away while fishing a creek! The fish was easily over 11" and could have possibly been in the 12" range!

Thanks Banker and Vogey. Gosh, I have been just thinking how fortunate we are living in South Tx. Sure glad I didn't stick to my original retirement plans of living in Montana where I retired. Fishing here is great all year long with a multitude of species. Trout season not far off, then monster Carp followed by fat Sunfish. Yep, I just can't think of a better place to live.

You guys are having a super year! Congratulations Catyakker on your record Redear! Are you all fishing the main part of the lake on Mcqueeney? Also have you fished the Cibolo creek recently? Again nice fish!

Thanks Chuck. I have driven by the Cibolo a couple of days ago and the current was still pretty fast. May give it a try in a few days!

Will take a look at the Cibolo later this week. Hope to fish it soon.
