I think I'll wait for the first freeze to wander back out into my flowerbeds and do any maintenance. Ha!

I have been watching this particular spider for several weeks, its web assembled between two bushes and it looks like it is very happy with where its trap is set for flying insects, likely large grasshoppers, dragonflies and other things. Spiders love living near the water.

I sure wish there was something in the photo that could be seen and used as a size reference. I decided not to hold my hand out. I'd say the spider's body alone, not counting its legs, is somewhat over 2 inches in length. With its legs, it's about the size of an adult tarantula.

Pretty cool. I'm leaving it alone. Big spiders (bugs, too) on Lake Athens. Yes, of course, big bass!!!

I believe that is a Banana Spider, they're actually very docile, they love to be scratched behind the ears.

Ha! Huckleberry! Well, if I have to scratch one behind the ears, I suppose this one would be it.

We also have LARGE black widows, yikes, and super large wolf spiders. They claim wolf spiders have a high degree of intelligence. I don't get too close, keep my distance, live and let live.

Down at my boat house, I keep an old broom to knock back spider webs, else if I walked from one end to the other, I'd be wrapped up like a mummy in silk.
