I am planning on taking my dad fishing to Lake Livingston the weekend of September 8. He is 78 years old and while I could almost guarantee him fish on Rayburn or Toledo since I fish those lakes, I know NOTHING about Livingston. He doesn't want to drive too far because my mom has cancer and he doesn't want to be gone from her for too long. He used to fish Livingston years ago for white bass but never black bass.

I just want to spend some time with my dad on the water and be able to catch fish. Doesn't need to be big, just a chance at actually setting the hook on some.

Anything you guys can offer in terms of advice, I could really use it. He will likely just sit on the seat in the back and he enjoys worm fishing or throwing a moving bait. We will probably only fish till noon due to the weather being hot.

Fishing docks in the kicakpoo or penwaugh areas will get u some fish. Darker color plastics, texas rigged, wacky, Spinner baits and square bills.

Yeah put in at kickapoo and fish docks and then up in the main creek. Throw a shaky head under the docks and you should catch some fish.

Thank you guys, I am not familiar with Kickapoo but will look on the map to find it. I would like to ask though, as my dad can't skip, flip, or pitch so are these the kind of docks where there is enough distance between the water and bottom of the dock where he can just throw near it or as best he can under it?

Either way I will give the area a try just trying to figure out what to expect and what to tie on for him because he also tends to need a little heavier weight to be able to throw and also feel the bottom.

Any wood cover you can find in 5ft or less should have some fish too. That might be easier.

I would go put in at Cove Marina in Riverside. You can fish docks in Thomas lake or go up the creek or out into the river channel and fish natural bank.
