I am running Gen 1 Helix 10 & 9s on my boat. I also have an ultrex I am running as well as a Minn Kota PC battery charger... I had the power wires run all the way to the cranking battery by Dave at shut up and fish hoping to eliminate my interference. Well I have interference on my console unit and on my bow worse than ever every time I push the power button on the Ultrex. I called minn Kota they suggested to check the fuse under the head of the thing (its in perfect shape) and to disconnect my battery charger from my cranking battery before fishing (dumbest thing I ever heard)... well after fishing yesterday, all interference is still present!!!!! Its so bad you cannot read the screen. Does anyone else have any suggestions? Im open to anything, I just want no interference on my graphs and its only in the SI/DI modes not in 2D.

Mike i have two solix units. And had the same problem. Once i move the power wires to the opposite side of the boat away from the trolling motor All was good. Might try. I ran 14 gauge tinned wire. I had a 1198 and 998 before the Solix and didn't have the problem. It only started when i installed the Solix.

Mike, we ran 14 gauge wire and it is not near the trolling battery cable. 1st line of defense in RFI is wiring directly to the starting battery. We have a choke here we can add to the charger line going to the starting battery will be our next defense. Get with me next week and see if I am over this bout of pneumonia. and we can get into the shop.

Did you disconnect the battery charger lead from the starting battery to see if the RFI path was through the charger???????????????

Interference can be hard to track down but Ive never had it on the console unit. Try all these steps https://www.humminbird.com/support/faqs/TrollingMotorInterferenceDisconnecting the charger makes perfect sense since you are experiencing it on both units, not just the one closest to the tm. Chokes have worked in the past for me. Ive had this issue one time and another unit didnt have it on the same boat and the one that did, didnt have it on another boat which I always thought was strange.

I just may do that Bruce... maybe we can take a picture and send it out to Todd in San Diego... But yes I disconnected the battery charger Saturday while in the lake. The interference is still there.

Mike, I have an issue when in real shallow water. Is your problem depth related or all the time?

The only way I've been able to eliminate it with the Humminbirds is the power wire choke (positive and negative trolling motor wiring running through a choke) supplied by Humminbird and the ferrite ring that you wrap the transducer cable through (again, supplied by Humminbird). The fact that it's in the console unit has me more confused. Usually RF interference from the trolling motor is just in the bow unit and mostly effects the 455/800 frequency. John

Are both units networked? If so disconnect the Ethernet cable from one of the units. This will help to see if the RFI is being carried through the network or if its One unit or both. Always wanna do testing off the trailer and in the water

John Dave at shut up and fish put in a choke last time I was there. It is on the battery charger (minn Kota) lead to the cranking battery. I have about 9 ferrite rings placed on the transducer cable on the trolling motor shaft plus a couple on the battery charger leads...

Always wanna do testing off the trailer and in the water Yup they are networked, the hub is under the console, this was installed by classic fiberglass in Sanger.

Move the wring to the hub ports around. I found one that gave me trouble.
