Any of yall going to do it? Signed up for the Cat 4 100K road race this year, really just want to ride the fastest 60ish miles I've ever ridden and be done for the day. After the ride, Downtown WF is hosting the inaugural Hottern Ale 0.5K "run". http://downtownwf.com/event/hottern-ale-0-5k/

Know a few that will be there. We are building up for "The big dam bridge in little rock arkansas" in late Sept.

If I can keep up momentum, I am going to get back into some rallies this fall and well see about next year. Never done it, but thought about it twice. Once semi-seriously. But if I train, I am sure I could finish, and thats all that matters to me!

But if I train, I am sure I could finish, and thats all that matters to me! I've got a buddy who was telling me about his dad. Said he's done it a whole bunch of times but onlt rides once a year, it's the hundred and he does it in wranglers and flip flops. One thing I've learned from the HHH is it'll spoil you when it comes to doing other rides. Especially the drafting in groups, if you can ride a 17mph avg for 20 miles or so, you can ride in a group at 20 or faster then hit a rest stop and when you leave there'll be another group to get in with. It's also extremely well supported and there's no wondering where the next rest is.

I rode the 100k 2 years ago. I stopped at mile 40 to refill water and there was a group out of Louisiana riding in kilts and skirts. 2 of them were on a tandem bike pulling a trailer with a cooler. I asked if there was beer in there, she said yep and asked if I wanted/needed one. I said, well, I do need some carbs!! All they had left was Corona in a can, but that was probably one of the best beers I've had in a while!!
I'm not riding this year, haven't had anytime in the saddle since Oct. Ya'll have a good ride!!

My wife and I rode 76 miles Saturday with several people that have trained for this. Mostly Olds. We are not going. But based on the ride I would have to say we could easily do this. We were mostly held up most of the time.

Love this event...done it many times.
Trickster - easily .... hold on now! If you are pushing which anyone on a bike that has a sack does, this is not an easy ride! LOL Very doable though...if the heat ends up being 100 .. hydration and food can not be over emphasized. A whole lot of fun if you get into a nice group trucking along at 23 which is easy to do when you are running down the road with a group of 20 or more.
Be careful at the beginning and try to start up front....I can not count how many nasty crashes I have seen at the beginning of this event - generally caused simply by someone who has no idea how to ride in a group or hold a line.
Brian...be careful in the Crit baby - they used to call me CRASH! LOL lots of skin to asphalt in that ride for sure!
Its a great time man have fun!
Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

Well we made it, the wife and our oldest did the 10K for the 2nd year in a row, and I accomplished my goal of racing and finishing the 100k cat 4/5 race. The pace is crazy, we were averaging around 23 to 25 for roughly first 2/3rds of the race, then we turned SSW into a 20mph head wind and nobody wanted to pull so I being the biggest guy there kept getting pushed to the front, possibly out of a lack of race strategy experience. I figure I was probably in it or close to being in the top 10 up to about a mile left, then we get alittle closer and here they all come by and my tank was on E from pulling. We had a big crash in our group about halfway into it that split us up into 3 or more groups. The front group which didn't get affected - probably 5 or so riders, the ones that were right around it/narrowly avoided the crash, then what I'd assume the ones who got tangled up in the carnage and couldn't catch the 2nd group. I was behind the crash and ran off into the grass going about 25 and instantly had a thought that with the headwind on the home stretch if I didn't catch the 2nd group I probably wouldn't finish so I hammered all out until I caught them. Everyone was pretty bummed out after that so we never tried to close the gap between our group and the front group, but still kept a fast pace. Lots of close calls, kind of surprised there weren't more wrecks, but it was alot of fun. Crazy to ride that far that fast and never get off your bike. Here's a few pictures. The one of me is moments before the finish line, I'm in probably the most grueling place I've ever been on a bike, covered in GU gel, out of water, mouth open slobbering all over myself, 190HR, fun times. The results had me 22 out of 52 but my time was the same as the guy who finished 21st so I'm going with a tie for 21st...
