Is it worth the time to fish pinch points in deep water ?
When I say deep, I'm referencing 45-60 feet of water.
Pinch points I am talking about are where two creek channels intersect.

If so, would you use spoons? Drop shotting ? T-rig ? Or another technique ?

Thanks
Dave

I wouldnt be fishing that deep unless the water is clear & its late November or December when the thermocline is gone.

This must be an exact spot where Big Bass hang out. At this depth it can be done and done successfully. The problem is the fish must be released immediately or they will not survive. An exact spot that you can fish vertically are the best. You can see the fish and the structure they are holding on with Down Scan. A couple of pieces of structure that works for me on a very calm day are:
- Deep Water Underwater Bridges that are still in tact.
- Deep Bluff Walls that extend out into the lake from a high wall canyon.

Both can be fished vertical with the lake dead calm so your bait can be held against the structure. With a Bridge that is on the corners of one still in tact. On a Bluff that is within a foot of the wall. High dollar depth finders are not the ticket as they will not lock on with abrupt depth changes form 100 ft to a 30 ft. ledge. They will flash and not correct themselves until you slip back out into 100 ft. of water. A less expensive depth finder will make this dept change immediately form deep to the top of the structure and back to the deep water immediately. You boat is on the edge over the top of the structure and it is moving back and forth as you are trying to keep you bait against the structure. I have found that Bass do not like the bait moving up and down in a jigging motion. It is just like Crappie fishing. Hold it as still as possible right against the structure and they will load up. My bait of choice is a 1 oz. Pegged bullet and large Brush Hog. A very short Crig. will also work with a 10 inch leader; so the Brush Hog has a little flotation movement.

Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success.

I agree with James. Unless the water is very clear and it's Wintertime, I keep my depth range at 1-35ft. When it gets deeper than that, I start losing my confidence. I've done it, but it's hard to fish that deep unless you're fishing for smallies up North. It's hard to feel your bait and you MUST pay attention to your fish finders. The only time I ever consider doing it is at Amistad. If I had to pick just a couple of baits to get the job done, I'd go with a drop shot, jigging spoon, Damiki rig, paddle tail swimbait, or a blade bait. You're pretty much looking at light line techniques, except for the jigging spoon.
